partied like at college? You can get way with smoking right now. They are not really doing a lot of drug testing right now with recruiting being such a problem. They didn't drug test any of my buddies in the reserve before they re-activated them. My reserve time ended in 2001. Thank god. I partied the whole time I was in! But that was 86 - 92. Plus the Army got me really strung out on pain killers. Don't join the Army unless you like Afghanistan, The Navy isn't to bad you don't get shot at allot they have an infantry too there called Marines. My buddy hates the fact that the Marines are a department of the Navy.... He says it is the Men's Department!
Very thoughtful question. I commend you for weighing your options.i'm 18 and don't know as to what i would like to study in college yet so i've decide the best option for me MIGHT be the military(army). but i love weed so much. any chance i'll get to roll a fat ass blunt in the military IF I DECIDE TO JOIN?
I was in the Navy from 1987 - 1996. I smoked out occasionally, as did quite a few others. I passed every piss test by simply flushing prior to pissing in the cup. Either that, or my sample was never tested and I just got lucky. Or, their testing procedures sucked. When I say I smoked "occasionally", I probably smoked out maybe 10 times in 9 years. I knew guys who got busted. My supervisor got busted and was kicked out with no retirement after 18 years.i'm 18 and don't know as to what i would like to study in college yet so i've decide the best option for me MIGHT be the military(army). but i love weed so much. any chance i'll get to roll a fat ass blunt in the military IF I DECIDE TO JOIN?
i kinda thought if i joined anything else but the army, would be kinda sucky. i wanna go through the tough training and what not. i enjoyed being pushed during wrestling practice for 3 hours. even though i wanted to puke after the first couple of downs.Partied like i had a job but yea I partied hard. Most of the people in the army end up drinking way to hard. At least that was my experience. I was strung out on Painkillers for three years and I never got pwned. Right now the military is not in the biz of kicking people out unless you are gay (how fucking stupid is that?) If you are gonna join up go to the Navy. I would never go back in the Army. In the Navy you get to go cool places like San Diego, Japan, Greece, the Philippines, Hawaii. In the Army you get to go wonderful places like Texas, Georgia, Afghanistan, Iraq. About the only cool places the Army gets to go is Germany and Korea.
i wouldn't wanna pull em over...but after thinking about joining it made me kinda pissed that ppl would be staying here, in america, growing weed and making easy money, toking, while i was in the military working hard. made me kinda think twice about marijuana and how everyone here thinks it should be legal. i also reminded myself that if i did join...It was my CHOICE to join. right?I was in the Navy from 1987 - 1996. In any event, it's possible to smoke occasionally without getting caught. But, the risk isn't worth it. Neither is the anxiety of wondering if you're going to get busted.
If you have the means to afford college now, I would go. Start knocking out your requirements even if you don't know what you're going to major in. Hopefully, you'll figure it out along the way. You can always choose the military later if the college thing doesn't go well.
If you choose the military, pick a job that will also be useful in the civilian world. Keep in mind that working for the government as a civilian, or working for a major government contractor will still subject you to drug testing.
If I had to do it over again, I would choose the Coast Guard. The enlisted members have a much better quality of life than the other services. They are simply treated better, better food, berthing, etc. And, you get to pull over drug smugglers on the high seas.
Best of luck to you.
A recruit will only be able to tell you about basic training and not much else.can i talk to any recruit? and they can answer my questions about the navy, army, etc?
damn that many push ups? lol i kinda look forward to the hard push ups.A recruit will only be able to tell you about basic training and not much else.
I can boil that down for you:
Your head will resemble a cue ball. Everybody will look alike. Even your farts will smell the same as the gas of the people around you.
Push-ups.
Minimum contact with the outside world.
Very little sleep.
More push-ups.
Drill practice. Drill, drill, and more drill.
Demanding physical training. Lots of it. Including push-ups.
Lots of yelling and cursing.
Even more push-ups.
Basic Rifle Marksmanship, protective gas masks, and hand grenades.
Sitting in bleachers listening to boring lectures when you are exhausted. Don't nod off unless you want to do some more push-ups.
Guard duty. Fire guard sucks ass but everybody does it.
You will bond with some. You will hate some. You will laugh a little. You will sweat a lot.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Be prepared to do a few push-ups.
If you meant recruiter, forget about it. Them sonsabitches get paid to lie to you. You'll know your recruiter is lying to you because his lips will be moving.
Yeah, I think I would.damn that many push ups? lol i kinda look forward to the hard push ups.
thanks for giving me an idea how it would be...if you could would you do it all over again...
