Thanks, my friends! You all are great, and deserve a huge !!!

Long post ahead, sorry... I've got a problem going on, to say the very least!

Everything's been going great, till late last night... I went in to close the tent before the lights went out at 2am, and as I was about to leave the room, I caught a glance of my clones and my AK seedling. To my horror, the AK was all but dead! The photo I took the night before, in my last post, shows a happy little seedling. So this was quite sudden, and there was absolutely no warning. No drooping, no yellowing, no curling, no browning of the tips... nothing! At lights out time last night (10pm) she was happy and perky, then at 2am she was dying!

I haven't had a plant die on me since I was 20 yrs. old, and that doesn't really count since my ex-husband and I took a three week trip to see his family, a friend of his promised to water my plants and feed/water my dogs, and we came home to dead plants and deathly thirsty dogs with their ribs sticking out profusely! Needless to say, he got quite a verbal beating from me... and I was pretty sure he got more than something verbal from my ex.

I've been going over and over in my head, trying to figure out what could've gone wrong. The only thing that was different with this one is that I germed and started her in coco, instead of one of my rooter plugs and then soil like I've been doing. Absolutely nothing else has changed. Temps, humidity, pH, medium moisture, etc., are all just right. I did notice the cotyledons browning faster than they have on other seedlings I've grown, but I've also noticed that they've stayed green on mine longer than what I've seen on many other growers' seedlings, so I just kept a close watch and saw only healthy little leaves developing. I'm going to start two of my freebie seeds (I'll do Thai Super Skunk since I have five of them) side by side... one in coco like I did the AK, and one in a rapid rooter plug and soil like I normally do. If it's the coco, I should quickly see a difference in these two. (The only reason I think it could be the coco is that it doesn't have any natural nutrients like my soil does; considering the faster dying off of the cotyledons than my previous seedlings, my only guess at this time is that there wasn't enough nutrition for her to thrive. It's also the only thing done differently with my seedlings.)

I put her in soil a bit ago, to see if there's any chance of reviving her... which I highly doubt will happen, but at least I can say I tried my best. The roots are in perfect condition, but there's almost no foliage to be found that looks salvageable. However, I remember Purp's "headless" AK seedling, which made it through to harvest... she was a runt, but she made it and did quite well. Oh well, the next day or two will tell.

What pisses me off the most is that I really wanted an AK more than any other strain I've got! When I got the Thai Super Skunk (5 regular) and the Pineapple Express (1 fem) for free at Attitude from one of their "UFO" deals, I decided to purchase a fem AK from World of Seeds at the same time, since I was already planning on getting that, and this way I'd only pay for shipping once. With all the praises I've heard about AK from ease of growing to a great smoke, my heart was really set on growing it ASAP. With the severity of insomnia I've had for years, I know that AK would help tremendously. I'm flat broke, and have no idea when I'll be able to purchase even one seed again. So this is heartbreaking for me.

My NL currently in the flowering area is still being shy about showing sex. The calyxes have been swollen for three days now, but no pistils to be seen. I'm thinking it's gotta be a female, because my last two NL males began growing flowers like crazy within hours of swollen calyxes. So I'm holding hope that this time I've finally got a female NL.

allright! Pictures!! See, I knew this wasn't a phantom grow:lol:
:hug:x2:cool:
Sure you didn't... ;)

That B-plant in the middle looks so different from the others. That LSTing really did wonders for these girls.

Just look at the size of some of those colas  Those babies are weaponized already.
Yeah, B has weird looking buds to me! I don't recall seeing photos quite like the buds on this one before. I'm extremely curious what they'll be like after they're dried and cured.

Tee hee hee! Some of the colas on the two sativas are longer than and almost as wide as my hands, and my hands are slender but large! There are "growth issues" that haven't thrilled me about these two sativa strains, and they still don't smell a bit like cannabis. So unless the finished product is awesome, I'm not going to bother growing out the clones I took from them.

lookin good gurl...alil over-watered in the third pic put looks like its gonna b a great harvest...thanksgiving bud...yum
Actually, that plant is under watered if anything... she's always dried out to the point of the leaves drooping and begging for water much sooner than the other two. One of the "growth issues" about that one that doesn't thrill me; it dries out very fast, and is much more sensitive to the heat problems I was having over the summer... and since I'll be living in the So. CA Mojave indefinitely, plants with heat issues aren't a good thing for me.

Yummy, buds + thanksgiving = gain 10lbs hehe

How long is the NL expected to flower for? I would love to get my hands on a couple NL clones, one of my favorite smokes. Makes me laugh at the stupidest stuff
I'd have loved to gain 10 lbs. 1.5 years ago, as I was underweight for years (i.e., 106 lbs. @ 5'8" tall!). But now that I'm finally at a very healthy 145... nuh uh, I don't want that now! At least we just go out to dinner for Thanksgiving now, so we don't have the humongous spread to gorge on all day.

According to Nirvana's description, 7-9 weeks. Zen Master said a page or so ago that he very much preferred his NL buds at 8 weeks (samples) than harvested at 9, so he's harvesting them at 8 weeks now.

If the NL does that for me as well (the giggles), it'll be perfect for helping to manage bipolar episodes right after onset... not only could I use laughter during depression, but I very much need that during mania as well. I'm one of the "lucky ones" that doesn't get euphoric manias, but instead gets manias that are severely irritable... the smallest things that would roll off my back any other time make me extremely angry (sometimes to the point of sheer rage), and I can get awfully mean before I realize where I'm going. I've learned how to keep my actions in check most of the time, just by being aware of what state I'm in at all times and being extremely conscious and cautious of my behaviors. But it doesn't always work, and then I'm apologizing profusely for having said things that can't be taken back and are very hurtful, etc. Fortunately those in my life with whom I'm close understand that it's not ME talking, but the mania, and they are very forgiving. I'm extremely lucky in that, if nothing else! Honestly though, I'd much rather be rock bottom depressed than even slightly manic.

Come to think of it... I do recall getting some pretty big cases of the giggles with NL in the past. :hump:

Thanks for these, Zen! I think I'll save them for future reference... once I finally get a female NL going, that is! Yes, a very good flower to leaf ratio would indeed be best for me when it comes to trimming, etc.; for my hands as well as for back pain, etc., as projects like trimming/manicuring wears on that as well. I do remember that the descriptions of some of the strains I got said they've got a good ratio, but I don't remember which ones now. I've gotta go reread so I can best decide which seeds to germinate next, when that time comes.

I finally found an image editor that saves the photos after resizing them! I haven't had the chance to figure out where in the prog to go for adding on my border and text at the bottom (which is for my benefit, not for you guys, lol), but I'm finally able to post photos! Also, the prog I used in WinBlow$ had an auto-contrast that removed all the extra green my camera picks up, which is too much green. This prog doesn't make any visible changes when applying contrast, hue/saturation, etc. :( My camera really does suck, and part of it is that it puts out too much color. I'm still working on finding an image editor that does what it says it'll do. Oh well, so the photos look crappy now, but I can't adjust them to look like the plants do... still better than nothing!

All but one were taken on the 10th... I started to take some last night, and then my camera's batteries died. But they're pretty much up to date, and at least this GJ doesn't appear to be a phantom grow now. ;)

SO! Back left and front right of the first photo are cuttings I took a few days ago from the NL that is still waiting on showing sex. Front center is my new Afghan Kush baby (fem). The rest are clones I took at 18 days of flower, now all rooted and revegging. You can see the "funny" leaves on the back right (Blue Hash)... they don't look like cannabis right now, but that'll change soon enough. The red dot on the top of "B" is a cute little ladybug that had just landed there a moment before I got out the camera. ;)

U Have done well my Young Pad one learner ... lol .. j/k kidding aside.. u have done good Kat .. great Grow!! that blue hash looking fat

As of last night, the trichomes on my Blue Hash showed to be I'd say between 1/3 and 1/2 each of cloudy and amber with very little clear, and I finally couldn't help myself... I clipped off the smallest nugget and put it on my cable box for a quick dry. About an hour ago, I took enough off of it for two hits, and mind you I'm often teased for the "baby hits" I'm known to take.

:eyesmoke: OMG... I'm still floating!!! :eyesmoke:

For 1-2 weeks before harvest, a very fast dry (about 15 hrs.), and no curing, it was still quite smooth (no cough, not even any "tickle" in the back of my throat, and I'm still coughing like crazy from the flu!) and it only tasted a tiny bit grassy. There was a definite sweet undertone, which I'm sure will only be enhanced once it's time to harvest, dry, cure, and enjoy. :weed:

My body is extremely relaxed, and most of the pain (aside from my sinus headache, lol) is so low that I can not only tolerate it, but almost ignore it. My head is soaring, yet I'm grounded and fully aware of my surroundings... it's simultaneously powerful and mellow.

I shit you not, this sample is way better than what I've been smoking/eating the last few years RE: effectiveness and even taste! I'm already feeling more than ever that every penny spent and every moment of waiting and every bit of work, even all the backbreaking I endured, is absolutely worth it... and this is only a very small sneak preview of what I have ahead of me! :hump:

Very nice, I'm glad the Blue Hash turned out well. I'm gonna be doing that one along with my Super Lemon Haze.

I'm glad you're feeling good, too! I bet you're excited for the full cure! Maybe a little mind blowage?

(These brownies, this bong, these incense and that song=)

It's already as good as I'd hoped, and there's of course so much more to come! :bigjoint: Now, LAX said he wasn't too thrilled with the BH, that to him it tastes kind of harsh. But of course different people have different taste preferences, so you and/or I may love the finished product. ;) Also, I've been stuck with low grade (mid when I'm lucky) for the last 4.5 years, so anything home grown is gonna taste way better to me than what I've been used to since then! I do remember quite well what constitutes "dank" according to my preferences, as I used to always have top quality, and from this early sample I believe that RE: both taste and potency I'm going to be very happy with the BH. :hump:

Very excited! Already a little mind blowage, and I only had the tiniest pinch! I still have most of that nugget left, and I've a feeling I'm gonna sleep tonight like I haven't slept since I had my gall bladder out in 2007 and was pumped full of dilaudid for days! :eyesmoke:

Hahahaha! I was next door while you were posting this... I know for sure now that I have enough bought herb left to cook with till I can harvest this girl, (I put a little aside first for a small nightly sleeping smoke), so I started some canna oil in the crock pot and went to buy a box of brownie mix... get outta my head!!!

Mmmmm.... Check out these two recipes! :p Use canna oil for the brownie mix (of course), and substitute the evaporated milk with bhang (simple recipe for that below) for Recipe A, or canna butter for Recipe B... you're gonna end up with some seriously Magic Brownies!!! :eyesmoke: Next time we go grocery shopping, I'm getting these ingredients! :hump:

Magic Brownies - A

Ingredients:
1 package brownie mix (plus ingredients to make them) [Don't forget the Canna Oil!]
1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk [Substitute with Bhang]

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F. Grease two 9-inch round cake pans or a 13x9 pan.

2. Prepare brownies according to package directions, and pour into 13x9 pan or evenly divided between the two 9-inch round pans.

LOL! I haven't made brownies in almost three months... was too broke to cook with pot. And WOW, are they potent! I slept like a baby that night, from one little brownie! I'm only able to have half, or even just a quarter, of one brownie (I bake them in muffin tins so that I can more easily "dose" them) or else I'm down for the count for hours!!! :eyesmoke:

OK, so I'm extremely perplexed now...

First of all, I just figured out why the buds on "B" look so weird. They're major seed factories!!! The seeds are still very underdeveloped, but they're most definitely growing! So I thoroughly looked over "A" and the Blue Hash... the BH is immaculate, 100% sinsemilla; while "A" has big fat seeds growing, although not nearly as many as "B" has. Let's suffice it to say that "B" isn't worth keeping in the flowering tent at all... it's nearly all seeds, and all the work it would take to remove them only to leave a tiny amount of bud afterward would be unreal! And since I'm still not 100% sure of the strains of "A" and "B" anyway (and "B" has been very sensitive to the heat where I live, as well) there's no sense in me keeping them when I have other seeds that I know for sure of their breeding, and can breed knowing what's what in the future.

I removed one complete branch from each plant (the smallest, yet most fully developed, I could find on each one), so I could more thoroughly examine them. They're hanging to dry now. The BH doesn't show one sign of one seed, "B" is pretty much nothing but extremely young seeds in the making, and "A" has a few very fat (but still quite green) seeds here and there.

OK, so what I want to know is... how the hell can two plants be pollinated, but not the third one in the same tent, and all three plants are the same age to the day?! Why wouldn't the BH also have seeds? I'm certainly not complaining about the BH being immaculate, but it's beyond puzzling!

I've kept a close eye on all three of these plants from day one, as most growers do, and especially new growers eager to watch development. There was never a single sign of any plant going hermie... not one banana or any other signal. Also, I didn't even let my first NL male (which I'd initially moved outdoors) grow to maturity, not even one flower grew to the point of opening... I'd gotten very sick and pretty much immobile early on in its growth, and I didn't want to risk it maturing before I was able to keep control over it... and I simply didn't have the energy to take care of a plant that wasn't a budding female.

However, I found out that my next door neighbor was growing a male chronic in the back yard. He wasn't looking to breed anything... he was keeping it simply because it was a "pretty" plant. We went back and forth about it, and he finally moved it to a friend's house about a week after I found out about it and pressed him to get rid of it, after I finally convinced him that his outdoor male could indeed pollinate my indoor females. So this is a likely culprit of my predicament.

Still, what's eating at me is how the hell do two plants get pollinated, and not the third one?!

Well, I'll keep the two sativas in there maybe another week or so... I've got a friend who's been growing (also MMJ status; he encouraged me to start growing my own a few months before I finally started) for a few years, and he ended up with a seed factory like my "B" plant in his first grow. He salvaged what trim and bud he could from that one, used it strictly for making canna oil and butter, and it was very good. So I guess I can look at these two as not a complete loss of time, work, and money, since I can still cook with them. And as potent as my canna oil is from just Mexi brick, I'm not worried at all about these two being "fully" mature... the trichs are mostly cloudy on these two, with some amber (I'd say close to 25%). I'd rather them be like that for cooking anyhow, so that I'm not quite as easily bombed during the day. I've always been quite the lightweight, so the potent indica (or anything close to "couch lock" development that can occur in sativas) is mostly only needed at night, when I can't sleep.

Fortunately, the BH will still provide me with plenty till I can get more plants ready for harvest... I still have close to half of that sample I took five or six days ago, and have been sleeping about six to eight hours a night instead of my regular three or four. Unfortunately, I was going to sell whatever yield over what I need to a couple of MMJ approved friends/acquaintances (a very low "MMJ buddy" price for them, which would still make up for much of my own expenses to grow), which won't happen this round thanks to all these seeds... I just told T when he got home from his drill today, and he said we're not "hurting" so don't worry about it, but that's not the point! They were planning on getting MMJ for a great price from me (as in pretty much the going rate for Mexi brick), and now I have to tell them that it ain't gonna happen for another two months or so! I know, shit happens... but they've looked over my plants many times too, and none of us expected this.

Well, I've got two Thai Super Skunk seedlings going (sprouted two days ago), a BH clone that just took root, and a WW vegging that I wasn't going to put to flower till it got kinda huge but can start flowering whenever I flip it... I'm going to focus on germing feminized seeds (WW, Moby Dick, Cali Hash, Pineapple Express) for now, and mess with the regular seeds (mostly NL and TSS) in between till I get a cycle going like I've been planning on doing. My cycle just got thrown thanks to this new discovery, but at least I've got one plant that's doing just as I'd planned/hoped, so I can't really complain... I still won't have to buy MMJ anymore, and that's why I started growing in the first place!

hermies easily pollenate themselves, and it can be done in such a way that little or no pollen actually escapes away onto near by plants (supposing there is only a couple pollen pods, that pop up right in a cluster of calyxes opens and sticks right to the calyxes next to it)...... feminized seeds.....

didn't read your whole post..... haven't seen any pics in a few days..... but looks like your ready to start the next round?

pollen can come in via external sources such as a breezy day, open window or door going into the grow area, its stuck to your shirt etc. or bananas pop up Inside of calyx cluster making them practically unnoticable unless you are focussing on that particular section, or digging into the nugs (if they are thick enough) to look for them ;)

Anything new going on?
Yeah, my mom's in ICU, and she probably isn't going to make it this time. Aside from watering/feeding my plants, I haven't been doing any real gardening. I'll be harvesting the Blue Hash in the next couple of days.

On a lighter note for a moment... my younger son has been here since Tuesday night, and he had a sample of my BH sample. There's nothing but homegrown dank where he lives, and I was expecting him to think it was just OK. But he loved it! Then he got this Cheshire cat grin on his face, and said, "My mom did this!" About two or three minutes later, he slurred to me that he was baked.

OK, gotta take off... we're going to the hospital again in about half an hour.

I Like THC Pops that shit gets me all fucked up...lol

OK, gotta take off... we're going to the hospital again in about half an hour.
sorry to hear bout your mom kat hope she will be ok!!!
