Ok well watering twice a week and feeding every other water is pretty much equall to watering once a week and feeding every water. You'll only get PH problems if you fertilize too much. If your plants are using the ferts up then they won't be hanging around in your soil raising the ph. If you like and want to use the FF lineup and schedule I guess you should probably stick right to it for a whole grow see how that grows and adjust it to suit your plants in the "next generation". Mainly I just dont like the idea of watering twice a week.
The B1? I use Superthrive during veg. which i know contains B vitamins. I've read that you dont want to use it during flower because its a growth stimulant and can make for fluffy (stretched out) buds.
And I cant believe I didn't think of it before when I first thought I was having a K def.
Molasses is high in K approx NPK (1-0-5)!

That makes sense. As far as watering twice a week, I was trying to find a way to flush between feedings but still feed every week, but I see what you're saying. If I stick to FF's "Scientifically Designed":roll: feeding schedule then I shouldn't have MUCH excess in the soil if any.

So I pulled all of the plants out to water Gen 1 and had them all back in the cabinet before I realized that today was RIU update day. Sorry but I was too lazy to pull them out again. Gen 1 got their first dose of FF and Cal/Mag. I'm hoping that they respond as well as Gen 3 did. Gen 3 was lime green a few days ago, now they are getting darker and growing.:clap: They got the recommended dose of FF Big Bloom and Cal/Mag. Its a good feeling to know I did something right. Here's a pic of one of the Gen 3 plants that is making a comeback and a few bud shots. :peace: OUT!

Nice, way to grow. Whenever I discover a problem, I always feel a lot better when I figure out what caused it. Even if i havn't quite solved it yet. Harvesting knowledge during the grow is as important as harvesting buds at the end of the grow. At least for now. ;) That's how I roll anyway.

It's been a while since I posted an update so I thought I would share my latest progress/problems with you. It appears that one side of my cabinet is prone to cause powdery mildew. I had my PF on the far left side, it got mildew, so I treated it and moved it to the right side, directly in front of the circulation fans. A few days later the BJ, which I put on the far left side, had PM on its leaves. I moved one of the circulation fans to the left side of the cabinet so both sides got equal amounts of air. Now I have noticed that PF Gen 2 has what looks like PM on the base of it's stem. I'll treat that with Zero Tolerance and hope it takes care of the problem. My concern is that I've read several threads that say once PM gets into your grow its nearly impossible to get rid of. Anyone had a similar experience? Heres some pics taken this morning of all 3 generations. Gen 3 is looking HEALTHY and I expect it will be my best grow so far, assuming PM doesn't attack them. Any guesses on how many weeks left until harvest? Pic order: WR, BJ, PF Gens 1, 2, 3. :peace: OUT!

Wow, not only are you following in my footsteps, you're also stepping in a lot of the shit I stepped in along the way. LOL
1st it was the Ph problem. Then the K def. And now you've graduated on to the moldy portion of the adventure. Been there done that.....

Umm, yeah..... I've done battle with mold (Botrytis) a couple of times now. Recently, I believe I have found the solution. (I hope)
My (somewhat educated)theory is that there is a direct relationship between the K def and the mold problems I have had.
I've had some plants get attacked by mold while ones sitting right next to them are fine. The difference between the plants that got attacked and the ones that were not....? Health. The plants I have grown that have exhibited what I now know to be a potassium deficiency are the ones that were attacked by mold. Potassium has a great affect on the plants ability to fight infection and disease. All the mold problems I have had happened on plants that had small dead (yellow) leaves. These leaves prematurely yellowed and died as a result of the K def. Other deficiencies could also cause this. Any condition or deficiency that will cause unhealthy, dead or dying leaves will increase your chances of a mold attack. I don't know for sure but I dont think that mold can successfully attack and multiply on a 100% healthy MJ plant. I think it needs some dead or rotting tissue to get established.
You need to take a VERY VERY close look at your buds. You will have to be a little rough with them. You need to pull them apart a little bit to look at the "crotch" (where the buds lay against the stem) and look at the inside of the buds. Anywhere you see or think there might be a yellow. brown, dead , or dying leaf(s). It's either chop it down or inspect the hell out of it EVERYDAY until harvest. if you see leaves sticking out of buds that otherwise look healthy (mostly green, maybe a little yellow) that are starting to WILT, that is a sign of mold inside the bud. That is usually the first sign.
I have been inspecting and removing dead and/or moldy buds from my twin towers plant for a couple weeks now. I would just chop it down at this point but I'm making some seeds on it so.....hanging in there waiting for those to mature.

OK...So after i made that last post, I was inspecting my plants. I found some fuzz on the surface of a few of the larger veg leaves on 1 of my flowering plants (PICTURED BELOW). I hate that shit! WTF!?

Anyway, this is one of the plants that started fading to yellow as soon as i started flowering it. I've been feeding it FF grow big 3-2-6 for the potassium and it greened right back up again, but i still believe that overall it is still borderline K deficient. Hence the ability of the mold to grow on the surface of the leaves.
So here's what I did to see if it helped. I sprayed the shit out of the whole plant with hydrogen peroxide. Full strength 3% peroxide straight from the bottle. I soaked down the whole plant and then put a fan on it to dry it off. This was all done out of the tent. I also completely took everything out of the tent and washed it and the tent. Today there is no mold or fuzz or anything that i can detect anywhere in the tent or on the plants. No ill effects of the h2o2. Fingers crossed, Ill let you know if anything changes. Peace.

My PF plant does have leaves sticking out of the buds that have literally shriveled up and died. I tried to take some close up shots of the bud's vagina, wait...I meant the crotch of the buds. Does this look like the makings of bud rot to you? The plants still have another 2-3 weeks so I don't want to chop it early if there is no need but just like most of us on RIU, I'm paranoid...Please let me know what you think.

No worries! I dont see any signs of mold at all. Those buds are (no offence) on the small side. Too small to be worried about rot INSIDE them. You would easily see (upon close inspection) any mold on those nugs. But definitely keep your eye on them! Pluck out any completely dead, dried ,shrivled leaves as you see them. They look pretty close to done. Nice job on the close ups.

SAWEEEET! Thanks for the good news IGLAW, you made my day. Let me know how the Hydrogen peroxide remedy works. I've read several threads that swear by it. I've also read that it may cause your buds to turn brown which is why I didn't try it. I'm going for couchlock on this grow, so far there is no sign of amber. BTW, the PF smells like a pot of hobo stew. Not a good plant to grow if you're worried about anyone within a 1 mile radius smelling your grow op. :peace: OUT!

I was looking through this thread and was reminded of what a failure my first grow was. I was also amazed how different the Permafrost looks then and now, same strain but totally different look.
The first pic is from my very first grow at day 56 of flowering. This plant had a BAD spider mite infestation. I bought some preditor mites to attempt to control the infestation. It didn't work, all that I managed to do was piss off the spider mites and cover the buds in the flakey crap that came with the preditor mites. Within the following weeks the spider mites had almost entirely covered the majority of the buds with webs. The second pic is of the PF at day 47 that is currently in flower. This plant had a small spider mite infestation that I was able to eliminate by using Azamax. This plant wasn't fed the proper nutes and therefore it's growth suffered, but it looks a hell of a lot better than the first grow. I expect that the next group to come into the flower room will be my best ever.

The PF and BJ are starting to amber so I started the flush this morning. I hope to chop em just before or just after Thanksgiving. The WR looks like it will probably be a week or two behind. BTW, about a week ago I cut a small bud off of the PF to sample. It was finally dry enough to smoke last night and let me tell you....BY FAR THE BEST TASTING SMOKE IN MY 15 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE...HANDS DOWN!!! I didn't get very stoned but I wasn't surprised as it was picked too early and was one of the small bottom buds. I can't imagine how good it will be after it has cured.

BTW....WTF is going on with the RUI website? All of my recently viewed threads are gone.
