quick observations I've made so far, first the dog is cute! second the root growth in coco is ridiculous... I just transplanted 3 week old 6 inch plants in 4 inch pots and the roots were coming out of the bottom and had more than filled the pots! Plant roots love this shit... by the way for anyone that saw my last dying plant post, I hit the plants with a highly condensed cal mag feeding and then didnt water for 3 days and things are looking much better, thanks again for the advice.

you want to feed as often as possible and you should only feed when the coco starts to dry out some.... if u use too big of pots then u wont be able to feed very often, and when growing hydro you want to feed, feed, feed.

great info for me! using 1 gallon pots on dripper systems and feeding every watering so I hope it turns out good :) hoping to grow 4ft MAX height plants just for easy's sake plus I only have 4.6"x4.6" to grow.

anyways I am lookin for info from coco soil growers - anyone use floranova? just lookin for infos!

using the canadian express a&b it says to use 5ml of parts a&b per litre of water. does that mean 5ml of a and 5ml of b so = 10ml per litre?

Also should i be feeding nutrients with each feed?

ok guys, I've used coco on 3 previous grows but I've had pH problems due to lack of a ph meter, which I now have, and I never flushed, my setup isnt anything special, I have a 400W HPS, I use Canna Coco A+B and GHE micro nutes and a little 13/14 during flowering, If im growing in 2-1/2 or 3 gallon pots, how much should I flush with? infact, how much should I even water with? last grow I didnt water with any set ammount, I barely had run off aswell.

since ive grown 3 times already with Coco, I feel a bit of an idiot that I have to ask these question's, but, its been a long time since ive grown anything and im looking to the next grow with hopes of re-learning, I'm much better equipped this time.

well I'm new to coco but from what I gather you water until you get a good amount of runoff... if lights are on and humidity and ventilation are decent it is difficult to overwater in coco. :lol::lol: works for me.

I'm thinking about 1/3 of a gallon for each 1 gallon pot each day accross two waterings. (1gph drip emitter for 10 minutes 2 times a day) for veg and then probably need to up it when they get bigger just gonna play it by day and try to keep a regular amount of runoff escaping every watering.

as soon as the coco starts to break down then the run off reading become inaccurate...
i wouldnt worry about what they are for the most part, but for the first couple of weeks i would expect most of nutes to be absorbed when u feed.

if u use canna nutes then like 90+ percent should be getting absorbed and most of your run off ppm's will be from the tap water, plant give off, and coco give off.

after the first month or so, it becomes hard to say what is going on in the run off.

I'm not using canna nutrients and I'm not in pure coco but in coco based soil and using floranova so its a little different ball game, I'm just wondering the desired runoff pH.

i would guess around 6.3? but just a guess?

anybody else up for helping me out here?

when u do a final flush before harvest, it usually takes 3x the volume of the soil...

if you had 1 gallon pots, then u would use 3 gallons of water for a final flush. I know that seems like a lot but thats what the books say, and after some testing of my own, i have come to the same conclusion.

or u could spread the 3 gallons out over the last 2-3 waterings, but u will have to start your flush a few days earlier doing it this way.

the rest of the time, the run off can vary each watering but 15% or more overall is good.

hey jberry what nutrients did you say u use? if i recall it is canna a + b. is it ok to mix nutrients? say u mix one nutrient and it is a 10-10-10 and another that is a 5-5-5 is the final product 15-15-15? how do you know when it is good and/or bad to mix?

a friend of mine just gave me a box full of nutrients, plus i have some....which would you use along with the coco and/or soil? (anyone feel free to answer)

I do use a mix... but i do it very carefully and wouldnt really recommend it unless you like problem solving ;) or have a proven reciepe.

For vegging i use Cutting Edge Solutions six part system just as they instruct.

I use MagiCal, Canna A/B for my base nutes as well as Cannazym occassionly, I use H&G's rooting and flowering additives, and Gravity. I also am a big fan of inoculating the garden, and for that i use Pumpkin Pro and Great White... MOAB is pretty good if you cant afford H&G Shooting Powder.

if u gave me the option to use those products i would grab the i listed below and the rest i would use outdoors or give away to a fellow grower...not that the rest is crap or anything.

heres the ones i would use in coco:

*age old grow mycorrhizae (not sure if it works well but mycorrhizae is great)
*cal mag 2-0-0 (usually needed)
*humboldts countrys own snow storm 0-0-3 (gravity works well, maybe this does too?)
*fish emulsion organic 5-1-1 (might use this in veg?)

idk a lot about all these products so maybe there is some more gems in there for your soil grow like the Gradma's humic acid stuff and the tiger bloom ect.

i wouldnt stray far from the feeding chart or you start asking for problems... IF u do add any additives then you will have lower your base nutes some, and nute values could get messed up.

author mel frank has found what he believes is the correct nutrient values for cannabis and i think they are posted a few pages back... you also can find it on internet along with the lucas formula and a nutrient calculator to convert YOUR nutrients npk into ppm's i believe.
