i dont understand this forum lately you see someone post a question or ask for a look at thier op and they get no response or get ridiculed by some people but then you see someone post in the mj growing forum about getting busted and he gets several pages of posters it seems alot of people dont want to help but just read gossip and also why is the only people that rep people are the ones that thier rep dont count? i not tryin to cry or anything i just have noticed this lately

The reason questions usually go unanswered on forums isn't because members aren't willing to help, it's because the person asking the question isn't willing to help themselves. Most of the questions have been asked many times before, and more than half the questions in the plant problems forum could probably be solved by reading one of the stickies. I've never asked a question with the answer readily available, and I've always had helpful responses very quickly. Usually within minutes.

There's also this phenomenon with a lot of the people asking questions here where they think they are entitled to a response within 90 seconds. Most one of the threads with an unanswered question has the OP chime back in 20 minutes later bitching at everyone for not answering his question. That's not how you get help.

j/k. people need to give more info to their questions...in less words,lol. sounds bad, but fuck dood seeing the same thread posted thirty times a day "leafes yellowing/dying, HELP PLEEZ" gets a lil old. tellin them to do sum research and LEARN sumthing does too. the first month er two wen i found this site i didnt even join, just lurked in the threads,lol.

If you try to help someone, they usually end up telling to fuck off when you give then any type of advice.

There are still some cool knowledgeable folks on here, but most of the old pros have outgrown this site to be honest.

And I don't come around as much as I used to, much less try to help people.

But there are still a few good eggs out there.

RIU is a place not only to give and receive advice, but a site where you can socialize. When someone posts an interesting event (albeit in the wrong thread), of course people are going to question and comment. When there is the 'yellowing leaves..helpp' I'll admit that sometimes I'll skip it, but most of the time I'll give it a shot if I've had experience with the given question or leave a link. More people DO need to research before they post though. Like Fuzzy, I scanned the forums and stickies LONG before I joined. Now that I have experience I want to pass on the knowledge whenever it's possible.

As for reputation, 95% of what I have received has had worth. Maybe it's just bad luck on your part or you've taken the initiative to help people with little or no experience. Good on ya! At least people are trying to repay you for your help and insight.

It does get weary answering the same posts over and over. Especially ones like "I want to grow some pot. Tell me everything I need to know."

most people dont want to be told how to "grow". Especially when they need help most, they see they made an error somewhere along the way and 90% of the time in some way shape of form get a little defensive when someone in the know tries to help them out by pointing out what they were doing wrong and what they could do to correct their error or change next time around. I believe this site could help anyone who just wants to grow a couple plants of personal smoke. Those doing it hella big and know how to pull pounds and pounds good for you. Just work with these novices. Remember back when you didnt know? Or was that 50 years ago maybe so... smoke the weed it will be all good =)

If there's one thing that pisses me off more than stupid questions that are answered in the FAQs, it's people trying to lecture me about how I should help newbies. I'll bend over backwards helping anyone who is willing to put as much thought into their question as they expect me to put into the answer.

im still new to this site and i read thread after tread b4 i made my first post, ive only recently learned to use the search fingy properly kept 4getting to change it to search titles only so yeah ive probably made a few of them noob post's that you guys are talking bout sorry,

i defo read alot more than i post and there is so much good info to be found on this site im very happy i found riu and its helped my growing so much.

Its amazing also that some people actually think people get paid here to help. They will ask a question and expect answers within minutes while giving no helpful info. "My plant is dying its about 2 inches high whats wrong?" then 10 minutes later another post saying "I guess no one wants to help me you guys suck"

lol this is a furum and if and when you get help in the first place its because someone happens to be reading the site and notices your post and even though its been answered many times and many ways they feel like assisting you as a favor. Appreciate anyones post that does take off and turn into 900 pages of endless info. If this site only had 4-5 of these long posts it would be enough info for years and years. Anyway I end up getting more help from either reading someone elses post or hijacking and putting my own question in a hot post that everyone seems to be responding to. Learn to work the site and the vets on the site. Any posts I have started myself have never gotten more than 1-2 replies. I dont freak out because I realize that if I really wanted replies I would add funny topics like "My bud looks like cock and balls and shoot THC jizz all over my grow room" pretty sure I could get some attention with that one and then ask my question

This is exactly what led me to find RIU and stay here. Most google results bring you back to a thread here anyway. I find google is better way to search these forums as the sites own search only shows the entire post but not exactly where the info your looking for is, google will not only find the post on RIU but will take you right to reply# 478 if thats where it found the key words you searched

Yep, thats how I found RIU as well. Funny how taking the initiative to actually search for something resulted in finding the info I needed at the time....
