Don't let it dry too fast. Hang it to dry, if it's drying too fast let it get a bit dry and just throw it in jars to dry slower. I don't remember how big your overall yeild was, but you can also use paper bags. They dry them out a bit slower than the hanging.

If you let them dry out completely too quicly it will burn and taste and smell like hay. Just get them mostly dry (so the stems are pretty dry and kinda "snap". If that takes 2-3 then okay, if it takes 7 even better. Just don't let them hang for 5 days and get completely crisp...slow the drying process down using jars or bags and that will also begin the curing process.

Try to get it to 7 days to dry them out however you see fit and then just start poppin' jars daily to get the cure going. Result should be a nice smooth smoke.

If you can totally seal off a dry box you could get some "damp rid". It comes in small white buckets. It is in granular form. Really simple to use. It absorbs a lot of moisture. They sell it at walmart home depot lowes etc...We used to use it to dry mushrooms in big rubbermaid bins. It will work and its cheap!
Great idea "damprid in a box" Reps

Damprid is great stuff

Also make sure you have some light air circulation, a fan in the room should be enough.

If he has humid problems could he start curing it in a mason jar right from harvest but take it out a couple to a few times a day and take the harvest out of the jar wipe the jar and lay the bud out on a paper towel to help absorb the moisture or could he also put a paper towel in the mason jar to absorb the moisture while the lid is on the jar and in the fridge?

Better than damprid is a 900 gram box of reusable silica. No smells, no exuding chemicals.Once the indicator turns from blue to red, stick it in the oven for a couple hours on low and it's back in business. They're popular in gun safes and such, but they work great in a small environment used for drying. The combination of the silica gel, lots of moving air and hanging buds as close to the ceiling as possible is your best bet if you don't have cash for a dehumidifier. Damp rid isn't that great because it's not that efficient for this purpose.

No. You would need something more absorptive.
