Why don't you educate us with some facts sir? an you tell me about light wavelengths and the spectrums produced by say 630-660nm - 420-440-nm LEDs compared to say an HPS light? Can you also define PAR and explain why you believe the 85% of wasted spectrum in a typical HPS bulb is more beneficial? I'm waiting, "expert"

It does show that Watt for Watt LED performed better than the MH in this particular case. The LED in question is a 205 watt penetrator, less than half the wattage of the MH. Don't leave out less heat generated by the LED lights as well...
Dude you're talking about one stage of growth and power consumption. Heat is easily controlled. My 600w costs me about $40 extra a month = not a big deal. The HID yielded 73 more grams...that's over 2oz more harvest weight. In my neck of the woods that's over $400 worth of extra bud so it covers the cost nicely. The whole point of growing weed is for buds and the more harvest weight the better. Therefore LED = shitty HID = better. I love how every time someone tries to argue that LED's are better they always prove themselves wrong, it makes for an easy argument. Also take into consideration the cost....the LED light in question costs $700 and a 400w HPS costs around $165. HID is cheaper and more effective.

The real appeal of LED lighting (to me) comes with its stealth attributes. Even the heat from a 250 watt HPS is too much for my area unless I was to run big obvious ducting(this would bother the wife). The other option was to keep the door of the tent open during light on, this results in a big obvious light that brings the entire closet and adjoining bathroom up 10 degrees to about 86 (this one really bothered the wife).
So for me the answer has been LED and CFL lighting.

Let's see some pics or I call bullshit. I don't hate LED's I just know that they cost mass money and don't produce as much bud as HID.
