We need to stand up and fight

I have looked at some information from some other state. I try to keep up with what is going on regarding legalization in any form. Medical MJ legalization would be a fact now if we didn't get booged down in catching the mud and slinging it back. The way to get it legal is to forget all the rhetoric and start talking about the benefits.
ITS THE ECONOMY.
Let me explain. Where do I live? Did anyone in my state look at what our Democratically elected Democrat governor is proposing now. In order to Move Michigan Forward we are going to initiate a whole lot of new programs, which all sound good. In order to help pay for these programs and balance our state $800,000,000.00 milion dollar deficit we will raise taxes on Cigarettes another 5cents a pack to $2.05, double the tax on other tobacco products and raise the markup the state charges on liqour sales from a 65% markup to a 75% markup. I am appalled. In addition she will ask us to pay a 2% tax on services, hair cuts, plumbers, electrician etc.
The problem with these kinds of taxes is that they are generally called regressive taxes. I will not debate this because I think it has already been shown that the majority of people that smoke and buy liqour products at a store instead of a bar are in the lower section of income, so they will be the ones paying the tax. The lest likely to be able to afford the tax will pay the most. And as far as the tax on services goes, because we make less money it will take a higher % of our incomes to pay it. Thats regressive. More common then we want to know about, still regressive.
The income from the additional tax on tobacco is expected to raise $57,000,000.00 and the additional liqour tax is expected to bring in another $29,000,000.00 for a total of 86,000,000.00. Did anyone besides me notice that the increase on tobacco is almost twice the increase on liqour. Why? If I were here I wouldn't want to piss them off to much either. If you accept donations for your campaign from a tobacco company it might be suicide but you can accept money from the liqour industry, no problem.
Now being the stupid youngster that I am, I thought ( I do that ocasionally) she couldn't have done us more of a service isf she had planned it. What she did, if we are as smart as I think we are, is to put one of our bigeest foes on our side of the table. Huh?? wtf is asshole talking about

The liqour industry does not want MJ legalized, would you believe it. Of course they don't think it ever will be, so they don't worry to much about it. We can bypass the industry and go to the consumer. Does anyone happen to know how much the liqour industry puts into our economy?? I bet its BILLIONS. You should be able to talk to the three people in our state that drink liqour and offer a counter proposal. Instead of taxing the shit out of every drinker and smoker lets legalize the already existing Marijuana industry and let them pay the f**8 taxes.
The estimated Marijuana crop from some agriculture reprt I looked at estimated the MJ crop @ 60,000 #'s. Using that as a starting point lets see what the expected result could be. If you use the price of $45.00/ quarter oz. of which $11.25 would go to the state as a 'sin tax' and the 6% sales tax.
60,000 x 16oz/ pound x 4 1/4's / oz x $45.00= $172.800,000.00 new business.
60,000 x 64 x $11.25 = $43,200,000.00 in new taxes
$172,800,000.00 x 6%= $10,368,000.00 additional taxes and thats only on the product that would sell for $180.00/ oz.
That is $53,568,000.00 in revenue.
In addition to that the state will be able to save an additional $140,000,000.00 not having to fight the war ' they' can't win.
In addition you would have farmers able to legally grow hemp.
You won't be able to find information on how many people are in our state prisons for just MJ offenses, if you do please keep me informed, then multiply that by $23,000.00 per inmate and you get another small saving. If it only 10,000, thats another $230,000,000.00 in savings.
The difference from just these items changes the States budget by $423,568,000.00 dollars. And who pays for it ? The criminals. The only way this isn't a win-win is if you truly are a criminal that just uses MJ to finance your other illegal activities.
You havto tell them what everybody wants to know when you try to sell them anything. Whats in it for me!!! ITS THE ECONOMY STUPID

I found an article that may be of interest. It was put out by Alternet. You can go to thier website for more information. The cost for incarceration of those in prison for MJ offenses is now over a BILLION DOLLARS. 1 in 8 inmates in federal and state prison for possesion.
I think it might have something to do with the economy.

people should write in/call in to their local newspapers and put a little blurb in the 2cent column on marijuana. Or better yet, if we have any writers.... ah the next monthly seed contest.... we should have a contest for people to do a write up on marijuana, any subject. people could write about the past, present, future, anything on it. once a winer has been declared, everyone should submit it to their local newspaper, of course giving proper credit of the original author. how about it?

get me a petition and victor and i will take the case to the supreme court... i know if we had enough people they would just at least have to listen... victor you do the economy and i'll do the politics... we have rights dammit and i'm tired of losing them everytime i turn around... they give more rights to the illegals in this country and our enemies in other countries then our own citizens... THIS IS BULL SHIT and i'm tired of it... i swear on my name that if i had the chance i would stand in front of the supreme court and present a case they couldn't deny... i swear i would... i just don't know how to get there....
