I'm new to the forum, but this is really important.
Letter writing campaigns are effective. If you want MMJ to be legal anywhere, you need to fight for it now, before Governor Jan Brewer files her lawsuit. the more states it's legal, the easier to make others legal.
Please, write to her and let her know your story, your pain. She needs to know that her lawsuit, which will bring the decriminalization of MMJ to a halt, will adversely effect the masses. The following is a link to her email.

I made mine as personal as possible, I realize not everyone will want to, that's OK, she needs to know what her actions mean to others. Below is a copy of what I emailed her. I'm verbose, no need for anyone to be as detailed, but WRITE HER NOW BEFORE SHE FILES!!
Governor Brewer,*
The same voters, the same democratic process that put you into office voted in legalizing medical marijuana. Why are you do everything you can to stop it? *Especially weak that you are feigning interest in protecting state employees even though they were not mentioned in the document you constantly reference. Do you really believe that we, the voters, don't see that maneuver for what it truly is?
My mother, an Arizona resident for over 30 years, was diagnosed with a rare and fatal disease just before her 60th birthday. Multiple System Atrophy is a painful and heartbreaking disease. While out visiting, my siblings and I would take our mother to various specialists, one had suggested MMJ might help alleviate some of her pain and discomfort. We procured some for her, and when she vaporized it, she felt better. She was thirsty, hungry, free from pain and she was comfortable. She would only ingest it when one of her kids were around (we all lived out of state). Her reasoning for not partaking in this wonderful, natural herb in our absence was that it was illegal. She was afraid that at 60+, she would end up dying in jail. We assured her that the state would not want to take on her incredible medical bills. She was afraid she would have to use her limited resources to battle any legal repercussions.*
My mother's downward spiral, heartbreaking pain and discomfort is not something I would wish upon my deepest enemy. My mom died at the young age of 64. My mother, my daughter's grandmother, loyal friend, loving wife, aunt, devoted Phoenician didn't just pass away, pass away makes it sound so easy, so simple as if just floating to another place in time. No, my mother SUFFERED for over 4 years. A simple and inexpensive herb would have aided in her "passing away." She may have actually been comfortable as she prepared to meet her Maker.
You are about to file a lawsuit that will stop the medical marijuana law from being feasible. You might as well visit every cancer patient, every hospice, and countless others and tell them that because YOU don't support MMJ they have to die in pain. Are you prepared to do that? *If the answer is "no," then why do you insist on persuing your own agendas instead of enforcing those of the voters? The same voters who placed you in office. *The same democratic system that placed you in office.*
You are 66 years old, you have been afforded at least 2 more years of life than my mom. *At least 6 more pain free years than my mom. My mom was a good woman with a soul to match. Unlike you, she didn't give the finger to the law, she never got DUIs or aligned herself with special interest groups. She lived a solid life, gave back to her community, abided by the law, and was a great person, a loving mom and doting grandmother. She died in pain because of hypocrites like you who demonize an herb, but don't mind drinking and driving endangering countless innocent people while doing so. You managed to be above the law with your DUI, you abused your privilege of your position then just as you are doing now. Medical Marijuana is a victimless crime. DUIs are not.*
I would love to sit down with you and share the legacy of my mother. I doubt you have the fortitude to meet with this voter. Nonetheless, I extend an invitation to meet with me, listen to stories and review pictures of a good woman who lived an honest life. I welcome the opportunity to put a face and a life to your agenda.*
Medical Marijuana was passed, let it be. Few years from now you just might end up with a far worse disease than my mom that just might be made bearable by an inexpensive herb. Not all of us can afford health insurance as great as yours, if at all. Have some foresight here. It will become legal at some point, doesn't it make sense to allow it now? *Show the rest of the country how to do it right. Regulate it, tax it, make Arizona the flagship for decriminalizing Medical Marijuana. *It's already been proven that MMJ is a cash crop that can help with our ever-growing debt and just might help get some funding back to the voters. Imagine putting money back INTO education!!. That would be a great legacy to leave behind.*
This voter will not be voting for you, nor will anyone else I know, since you are pushing your own agendas instead of the voters' agendas.*
A politician thinks of the next election, a statesman thinks of the next generation. Which are you?
