Do you play music for your plants?

I sometimes leave my iPod dock in the grow room for a couple hours each day. Does it actually do anything to them though? :eyesmoke:

I don't play music but I do sing, "Hurry up bitches, come on now bitches, hurry up bitches". Then I blow a couple of clouds of smoke on em. That's the only Co2 they get. Seems to work just fine.

I remember mythbusters did a thing on this a while back, their experiment showed that any sort of noise seems to increase growth (at least a little bit). I believe it, I usually keep mine somewhere in the house where I'm around a significant amount of time that way they get a little bit of everything :bigjoint: seems to work

believe it or not.. plants have consciousness and they can react to the energy in different songs and sounds..

in some vineyards they play classic music during the day

also water itself has memory and can carry energy and thoughts, there has been a lot of research proving this theory

for example positive thoughts and music change the way water crystals form
Dr. Masaru Emoto Experiment ...

playing relaxing and meditation songs for the plants seems to work very well for me
also send them love energy and they will grow like no other plant.. :peace:

mythbusters did do a show on this and i beleive it was the vibration that was working from the music and they also analyzed what kind of music to play and they determined whether significant or otherwise that heavy rock was the best and did promote growth.

no its an old myth. maybe if you play very loud bass or something like that the vibrations could help strengthen the stems. my patient wanted to put an extra set of speakers in our flower room cause he thought it would help. i laughed and said go ahead but it wont make any difference. instead of wasting your time with music, work and make some money and invest in more lighting. all that time wasted putting in music you could be adding CFLs for supplemental lighting.

The Mythbusters testing music on plants.

Hey guys, I just watched a 1-hour mythbuster's episode on the Discovery channel, (6-7pm), and they tested the myth that if you talk or play music to plants, they will perform much better then regularly controlled plants.(They were using peas as plants for this myth)

They made a couple of greenhouses, they put a set of 8 plants in each greenhouse.

In one greenhouse, they played heavy metal rock music

In another, they played classical music

In another... They recorded a sound track with one of the girls saying nice things to the plants

In another, they recorded a sound track with one of the girls saying bad/curse words at the plants.

And Finally, they had a greenhouse that was just simply controlled and didn't have any music or sounds in it.

(Each music/sound played was played by a jukebox so that the co2 emmited from humans would not false the results, and the tracks were played 24hrs a day.)

The final results were: The heavy metal rock greenhouse performed by FAR the BEST. Second came classical music.

The greenhouses with the girl screaming/saying nice things to the plants also performed fairly well, and had good biomass.

And finally, the "Controlled" greenhouse did by far the worst, the leaves of the plant were very wilted and frail.

They said that although they do not have enough evidence to prove this fact(lack of massive plant harvest... Statistics, etc.), it is indeed highly plausible that putting music near your plant will improve its performance.

I hope this read taught you something new! So whenever you grow, know that, music may help your plants =0.

Cheers

i do love the show but i wouldnt go much by what mythbusters say. they dont follow the scientific method properly.

they should repeat the experiment many times. something else had to be wrong in that greenhouse cause not having music is in no way going to make plants wilt and frail.

on a side note though, i do love the show. good entertainment. but i wish they were a little more scientific.
