It's that time of the year again.Lets all get ready for outdoors! I'm just waiting for peat plugs to hydrate so I can do some more clones right now. Jah Rule!

Yeh,it seems to me that to avoid human predators we have to use areas of the bush that ARE populated by deer. It's all a trade off, security vs predators. We lost 2 patches last fall ,1 to deer and 1 to thieves,on ATV's.We plan on a lot more small patches this year even though it is more work.

Theifs are hard, but they can also be kept away. Try find a lot of thorn bushes, and planting them all aroudn your plants. Not to close where your plants can be seen from outside of the thorns, but 50 yards away or so, so that it keeps people from going near them. Not many people are going to walk through thorns, unless they already know the plants are there, and hopefully you took step 1 at keeping theifs away, by not telling anyone = )

Thorns grow very easily, and very fast. You can even clone them and go crazy with them all aroudn your patch. I think that would deffently keep random people from finding your patch.

I also like to chain a lion to all my plants to keep theifs away, but not sure if they sell them where you live.

IM A GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So well I know moth balls work good to keep a lot of animals away, so before I left to go back up to college, I spread them around my plants. For the pats 4 days iv been thinking if they worked or not, and I keep thinking that my plants have already been destroyed, well after reading Cheetahs post I found this!

" These repellents are usually comprised of either napthalene (moth balls) "

you guys dont know how happy I am! My plants might actually not be destroyed when I go home this weekend = )

Also if anyone is curious, you can buy Moth Balls at Dollar General, they are 2$, and you get alot of them. Just put them around your plants, but not in your plants, becuase they are poisonus.

Thanks so much Cheetah, deffently giving you respect = ) You just made my day, and its only 11:15

Also, yeah I did not want to kill the racoons, because they have been around for to long. Everytime I have a fire they come out, sometimes i give them gramcrackers. But they never go through my garbage so I dont have a problem with them. Also couldnt kill them because there is 3 of them, and one is a baby. So im guessing its a family, and thats just cruel. If Moth balls can just keep them away from my plants, and they can live happy, I will be happy = )
you are wellcome man.i was just google "how to get rid of racoons" .i'm glad that helps. Peace!!! Cheetah

However if I get home, and the racoons dug my plants up, even with the moth balls.... lol

Then I think ill try Dial Soap next, and then Cougar Piss from Dicks Sporting goods. I will conquer the racoons = ) . But like I said they usually stay away from my stuff, they probably just dont know its mine. lol I should put some gram crackers around it, they will eat it and be like... "oooo these are jacks plants, lets help him out by eating all the mites within 100000mile radius"

Growers <3
i wouldnt use soap i heard it attracts small rodents....

well honestly raccoons arn't really detoured by mothballs, or predator urine, least not in my area. raccoons arn't really a major source of food for anything around here. last year i had a problem with them eating my tomatoes.i tried everything from mothballs, piss-off plants, finally had to put up fencing. if you get some dark green, dark brown, and black spraypaint, all flat, no gloss you can't even tell its there. Good luck!

Well, after returning home to see if the moth balls worked..... THEY DIDNT!

racoon, or squirel, which ever one is doing it, messed up my soil. Dug the corner all the way to the bottom, and piled the dirt everywhere. Seeds got tossed around but still sprouted, not where I planted them tho. Im just glad that they made it through the vandalism.

Going to try Dial Soap, and Cougar Piss next. Will let you guys know if that works. We will find a way to beat racoons, before this thread is through!

It baffles me why some people think we are better than animals. Watch out for ones who are mean to animals. They tend to have underlying issues.
