wicked ... i shouldn't say this really.. cos my boy is top banana... but i think little girls are the best! ... my three have been so laid back...total darlings ... my 9 month old is a total star ..after three weeks she's slept from 8pm-8am with the exception of about 4-6 nights in nine months! .. and little boys turn into children ... but little girls are always daddys little girls :-), and there is much more choices for baby girls stuff too :-)

fella its gonna be a blast!

youngest weighed 4lb 4oz when born... i've never seen a baby that small before..... and she had a full head of hair

Aww that's cute man :) 4lb is very small.
We're both really looking forward to her arrival. And yeah, our house is already full of pink and flowery stuff - pfft lol the wife's gone mad for it already!
Agreed, my boys are already smelly and rude, even the youngest (2yrs) is losing his cuteness fast - but I expect she'll be my little princess for life :)

I'm thinking that this is getting waaaay off topic for any readers here PMSL (apart from the flowers bit haha!)

Change topic QUICK!
POT PORN!!! Am looking forward to taking more pics next Monday for all the pot voyeurs and the secret bud pervs in this thread (I know your reading this!). I'm really excited to see how my training is going to go too - I have big plans for these babies!

How about a book?
Out of the five babs I got going, how many will be dudes and how many will be hoes?

Lights switch over on Monday, so we'll give it a week after that to find out...

ok ... lets see if i can get this one right... my guess 2 males 3 females, one thing i noticed from my greenhouse attempt the strongest bigest ones tended to be males..... i don't know if thats the same for all strains but my two monsters had nuts!, was pig sick bruv

is it a sweepstake +rep if your right?

Yeah with the rep :) sounds a gd plan

I'm thinking 2 females and 3 male... a little less optimistic but, it's actually what I'd prefer.

quick question mate ... how close are you getting your lights to your plants?
Well that was a dilemma for me, but I now keep them up as far as possible in order to stretch them up, so I can bend them more to suit my training ;)
But ideally, for growing straight up proper vegging I put them as close as possible but still giving room for growth, about 2" away.
Once I've started flowering, I'll drop the lights back down to keep all them lovely tops low, when they're tied down. That switch over, actually, I may decide on fully nearer the time and see how far they've got - it's only a week away (I may have to add another week but I don't want to) and I want as many new nodes as poss by then.

Closer lights will make your nodes tighter together. Whereas when the plant stretches with the light farther away, the nodes will grow farther apart.
I personally think it's better to keep the nodes closer, so that buds can eventually grow up in to each other a lot easier, kinda deal - makes them look bigger lol I also speak in 'Micro Grow' terms as well and for you, you have less worry with keeping the plants shorter.

As for a scientific answer, I can't really say what is better without tests.
What they actually need is the blue and red spectrum and none of the others. That I know is true. So I would devise a theory, that the angle of light spread from the bulb being closer, would have the plants exposed to a wider angle of each spectrum's spread, so in leyman's terms, more light. More light should be equal to more energy going into node production, than into stretching to reach the light and producing more stem than node.

Hope that helps :)

yeah i'm sure its a case of getting as much of the light to the LEAVES as thats what powers the bud growth surely?..... flowers dont power a plant? its the other way around yes?

so yeah most light including reflected - over the shortest distance... because from what i've read these lights lose loads of power over quite short distances ... so closer means more energy which means better growth ... so a nice level area (even top) means you can get up close

can't wait for my other two to turn up!

Looks like a monster Skinitti! I'll be looking forward to seeing your results.

I experienced some breakages this morning :( one in a fan leaf (not so bad) and the other in the main stem at the base (could be bad). Life and growth seems unaffected so far though and healing is occurring nicely, so all good.
I could call it super cropping instead of over training lol Hoping that it's going to bush up around the breaks :)

Ok bad news...

The break at the base of the stem has turned into an all out snap! :(

Luckily there are still two nodes below said snap so it should still survive through flowering... I'm sticking with my plan for switching on Monday, but I may switch earlier if I start to see new growth happening.

A few lessons learned here, to not be so heavy handed while LST'ing and to not start LST'ing so early on. And to just not rush the process.

Am a bit disappointed today and feel like I want it to hurry up and be over with so I can start a fresh with proper seeds or a clone. An experiment this truly is. Will try and get a pic up of my snap later.

I considered, planting a new seed today, to give it a week of veg and then flower with the rest, next week - any thoughts on this? Would one week of veg from seed be too little vegging time?

condolences on the break, i don't think you were early, some lst almost immediately
probably too much pressure, snapping is more about a woody stem and that happens with more mature plants
every plant is different, but this is how you learn
