Government Regulation

No, the dead don't buy hamburgers but if they can get the living to buy them for 50 years that is plenty and there are plenty more consumers being born. My logic is not defeated at all. Corporations do not look at the long term if they report quarterly and pay dividends yearly. Your argument fails the moment we examine cigarettes, a product that cigarette companies were fully aware kills people and yet they continued to do so and continued to profit heavily from.
Aren't cigarettes regulated by the government?

You assume too much. Who says that every fat person is eating at McDonalds at all? I can sit on my ass and make bologna and cheese sandwiches, loaded with mayonnaise with a Mac & Cheese chaser, chili dogs, pasta pasta pasta, fried chicken and overeat and overeat, while NEVER visiting a fast food place. This is where most obese people load up on empty calories, at home. You have ZERO evidence that obesity is caused by fast food, overeating and poor nutritional choices are certainly part of the equation, but the supermarkets are filled with far deadlier fare, shelves and shelves of it.

Not at all, I still contend our sendentary lifestyle is far more to blame than the fast food industry. (see above)
Says the guy from North Carolina? You guys are fat because you eat a bunch of crap, and you seem to pride yourself on that ignorant fact. The mere fact that you are arguing with every dietician and personal trainer and doctor in America makes you look silly. You can tell yourself that fast food does not make you fat. But you would be dead wrong. Overall, the South and the Midwest have never had a good reputation for taking care of their bodies. I went to the Midwest for some corporate training for a week.....literally, you cannot find 2 percent of the healthy eateries you can find on the west coast. Almost everything I saw was a Chilis, or some buffet crowded with fat people telling me how McDonald's is good for you.....LOL. The managers in charge of the training were surprised that us West Coasters wanted some healthy food. They seemed dumbfounded how someone would say no to a doughnut and coffee.

right off the top of my head i can probably name 10 or more permits or licenses a new restaurant would need to get in order to build.
Building Permit
E-Permit (electrical)
Plumbing permit
Fire Sprinkler permit
HVAC permit
Occupancy permit
Sellers permit
Liquor license
Health permit
Beer and Wine license
State franchise tax license
federal tax ID permit
City/county business license
Workers Compensation permit

Wow, it should take 3-6 months tops and require 1 permit. Make it a pass fail thing, rather than a "We are going to fucking suck you dry financially before we let you open this stand."
It should take 5 minutes....as in just do it. Free people don't have to get "permission" to buy or sell between consensual parties.

i ate at Mcdonalds three months ago, I am currently in the healthy weight limit according to government standards. proves you 100% wrong, wronger than a dead wrong person would be wrong. In fact it makes you look so wrong people might confuse it for right.

FACT, pure 100% undeniable easily proven scientific fact: Eating fast food DOES NOT MAKE YOU FAT, Eating more calories than you burn makes you fat.

No, but they should have to get permission when they use the commons, air, water, space, parking, sewer and general safety.

And as yet NoDrama, you have not adequatly explained why we as a nation have only begun to eat more than we burn in the last 30 or 40 years, about the time fast food chains were growing large.

to the extent that they cannot be sold to minors, there is no regulation surrounding the contents of the cigarette.
The content is regulated to only contain those items which are legal. RJR can't put Mj in their cigs nor can they put in Heroine, regulated.

Incorrect NoDrama, the MJ and Heroin (Heroine is a female protagonist) are "regulated" in that they are not to be sold or added into any other product. This is an entirely different thing. I notice you squirming in this discussion, failiing to address specifics and dancing about the issues, could it be that you cannot confront this argument directly for some reason?

Squirming? lol I won this debate when you emphatically stated that TV Advertising makes people fat. How long are you going to keep changing your stance ?

That is the point. If everyone knows this stuff is bad for you, then why do they eat it?
People have unprotected sex and they know that is bad for them, could be said about COUNTLESS activities that humans engage in that they know is bad for their health. Your imponderable question about why we eat more calories than we need has been answered with just as many valid conclusions as the one you draw. You offer zero proof that fast food makes people OVER CONSUME. You keep saying noone can answer your question (because there is no ONE answer), while you yourself can't prove that the fast food industry is to blame.

You did EXACTLY what the politician wanted you to do.....repeat his bullshit. True, you have to get some permits and a business license, but it does not take 2 years and 57 permits to open a burger stand. And, yes, burger stands should be regulated, like any other eatery. Some of you guys have obviously never worked in a restaurant before. If you fail an inspection, you get shut down, for the safety of the public. There are plenty of business owners and restaurant owners who will serve food that is borderline rotten, just to keep their food costs in check. Food needs to be kept at certain temperatures to be edible, and many restaurant owners would push this envelope if not for the regulation.

Ten bucks says that your politician was a Republican or some Tea Party numbnut. Sounds like their typical rhetoric. And you ran off, and repeated the lie, without validating the information. This is what bugs me about Republicans.....this type of parroting behavior runs rampant.
That's a very nice little rant you gave there, with absolutely NOTHING to back up your assertion to the contrary. Then you actually chastise the OP, as if you had somehow successfully disproved his statement. This ain't the forum at Huffington Post pal, you aren't surrounded by barking seals applauding any negative comment directed at a Conservative, take that weak shit down the hall to the kiddy table.

And neither have you, you put forth a SPECULATION and then somehow felt it's our job to disprove your bullshit. The world don't spin that way, you need to PROVE your position, that's the burden of putting forth the conclusion as you did. But you can't, which is why you keep beating the question to death. Prove it or drop it.

i direct you to the following google search:

http://www.google.com/search?q=sex+good+for+health&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

i mean , binge drinking, smoking crystal meth, boxing, MMA, snorting cyanide...... ok, bad for your health......

sex on the other hand.... very good for your health.

it's important to maintain proper hygiene... you know... a shower....at least a rinse afterwards.....

unprotected sex isn't bad for your health... unprotected sex with somebody with STD's on the other hand...... stop generalizing... makes you sound like a virgin... :)

None of those things is bad for your health except snorting cyanide. Participating in a behavior pattern of constant abuse and or pummeling is bad for your health, ANYTHING you do too much of is BAD for your health. Go out one day per 100 years and binge drink, youll probably be ok, do it every day and you have a problem. Smoke meth ( I have) and continue to smoke it and you will be screwed. One time isn't going to hurt you. I was on the USMC Boxing team, didn't suffer any health problems due to it. Go have sex 10 times a day, you'll probably die young, but happy.

My critque of Haz's post was accurate. HE was the one acting like he thought he was king. He dismissed the OP's statement as factually incorrect with nothing more than "cause I say so". He felt he was safe doing this because he believes (as do so many other libs on here believe) that they have a "safe haven" on RIU. If you build it they will come... Trash a Conservative and the simpering fools, the useful idiots will applaud.

Sorry, if your one of them.

My bad, I should have been more specific. People have unprotected sex in Zimbabwe and they know it's bad for their health. Better?

I am not chaning my stance. I have stated it over and over again and no one here has been able to come up with any explaination that cannot be challenged with facts. We all know that TV Advertising alone is not the problem, but the source of the offending advertising is still McDonalds. This should be obvious.
