Your interest should come from wanting to command respect and to be taken seriously. Your posts are seen as disingenuous, because they are. You don't even bother to clarify these things in your own mind, which makes you the equivalent of a bigot. You use atheism as a crutch to gain superior ground with an inferior intellect. You pretend that your words are worth something, but don't go to the trouble of giving them any worth. Oh, come on. You've been going back and forth with Heis here, but as soon as he offers a simple challenge, you back down with this weak response. Religious teachings are similar to child abuse in several ways: both are taking advantage of the child's innocence and dependence on adults teaching them about the world in which we live, and right from wrong. Children have an innate drive to obey the authority of adults so they can live past childhood (don't drink bleach, don't step off tall structures, don't eat those berries). If they could question as such, there wouldn't be nearly 7 billions humans on this planet. So, taking advantage of this need to learn and obey for either adults' sexual gratification or to pollute their minds with irrational myth offered as truth is akin to child abuse...

Just because i'm an atheist, it doesn't mean i'd like to be called an atheist, the word is hollow to me even though it has alot behind it. My position is that every religion is wrong, by a matter of its own structure and inability to be questioned. regardless of the beliefs of said religion. I dont appreciate stupidity unless its something to be laughed at, and therefore i laugh at religion because i see it as a pathetic attempt to make individuals into drones and slaves, all its good for is a good laugh anyway. religion doesn't work that way anymore because too many like minded, almost "atheist minded" or "freethinker" individuals pushed back religion into some nearly harmless form where people believe bunnies can lay eggs and virgins can be impregnated, so if you believe these things too, don't be offended, i will laugh at you though... just get used to it. I consider myself someone who is a materialist, and such i dont believe in the metaphysical. idea's are not even metaphysical since they are controlled by synapses in the brain and the brain itself.

actually you couldnt be more wrong there sunshine , if you care to skip back a few pages of this sub forum you will find a whole thread that I STARTED about how religious teaching to children is a form of child abuse and the problems it causes to children growing up with all the negative teachings about shame etc .
and if you wernt so hung up with stroking others egos on here, you would realise its only oliver and hepatitus that get the 'stupid treatment ' from me , as ive exhausted all discussion with them in the past , its pointless flogging a dead horse .So as they slowly resorted to personal insults against me instead of inteligent discussion ,(as you can observe them doing with others on here all the time ) i retaliated with the same .i dont care if you think that makes me as bad , your opinion of me is not relevent , we share a veiw about the lack of belief in religion , and thats about it .
