My First Hempy Bucket Grow

Tomorrow is a Watering day for the girls, but I am not sure if I should just give them water, or if I should continue with the 1/4 Strength Nutes????

So far they seem to be just fine with the nutes, even the Auto NL and she is only 4 Days old.

Anyone have advice on a Feed Schedule :bigjoint: ??????

I'd keep feeding them, there is no food in the perlite. With a soil grow there is always a little food in potting soil, so you shouldn't add nutes to seedlings.
I would continue 1/4 strength till you get 4 sets real leaves, then you can start to bump it up. I always take it easy on a strain I haven't grown before.

I don't really like the CFL's I am using cause they are kind of a Pain in the Ass and In-The-Way, so I am looking into a small hood that will hold a 200w CFL that they can all hang out under, and I will position the CFL's I have now along the sides.
I've played with a big cfl in a hood and I went back to a tube fixture. Tubes have a much more even light in an area and don't put off as much heat as the big cfl's. I've backed my veg lamp to a 4 bulb T8 fixture, works great for the conditions I have.

I decided to bite the bullet and get an small 250w mh air cooled fixture for the veg room, and im gonna try perpetual.

Thanks for the feeding advice, i DO think i am going to continue to feed tomorrow, and flush over the weekends :-)

I run light nutes all the way through on my 2liter hempies and never flush. If I thought I had over done it and burned one, I might. So far I have been lucky. I usually run them at around 800-900 PPM for mature plants when using hydro nutrients. I start seedlings at around 200 PPM.

Are you numbers at .7 or .5 conversion :?: :grin:

Fed the Girls this morning and took some pics. The Fruity Chronics single leaf damage seems to be growing as the leaf grows, but otherwise looks good. She has some pinkish coloration in the center leaves, but I think that is the strain cause I noticed it on another guys journal who is also growing the Fruity Chronic Juice ;-)

Mixed Fresh Half Gallon batch of Nutes.
PH = 6.0
PPM = 206

On a side note regarding the Attitude order. I emailed late yesterday to inquire about where I was at with the issue, and got an email just a few minutes ago as follows:

Hi there

We under no obligation to reship a delivered parcel, unfortunately we have no way of knowing this has not arrived with the customer once it has been scanned as delivered, what I am willing to do in this case, is if you want to place a new order I am going to offer a large discount to be refunded back to your card?

Many Thanks

The Attitude

I am not sure what the delivery thing had to do with my order, but if they are going to offer me a discount, then I am going to take it ;-)

Now I need to plan my next order :eyesmoke:

I seriously don't know. It only reads PPM and the document that came with it did not say.

Good to hear that Attitude is gonna help you out some. I think if I ever order from them again, I will try some from Serious Seeds. They have been around for a while and don't pad their list just to have a lot of names I hear....

I have the Hanna Pen (reads both ph and ppm) and I can change it to .5 or .7, but I just leave it on .5. I have really hated it since the day I got it, cause its just sooo damn finicky. To PH some water takes forever.

I let Attitude know that I am ready to place my next order and asked how I should go about doing that so I get the Discount/Refund, and this morning got this reply,.

Hi there

We do state that sometimes the free offers will be substituted with no
notice and unfortunately this did happen to your order, I am very sorry for
any disappointment caused by this but the change was intentional.

Many Thanks

I think she is responding to someone else, cause Substituted Seeds have nothing to do with my order or my issue.

So I sent her back and email to clarify and see if we can get this one the right track.

I would not increase it yet, unless you like to push them. I am the opposite and like to run them a little light unless I see them getting light in color.

I had the Hanna pens for years and recently bought some cheap ones off of ebay. I swear the cheap ph meter looks like it came out of the same mold. I like the cheap knock off better than my Hanna because it has a screw to calibrate it and once I did it, it has stayed calibrated. That damn hanna I had drove me crazy for years. It was calibrated by the software inside. The cheap ppm meter is better too. I think I gave over 90.00 a piece for them in the early 90's and I got both of these new ones shipped here for 20.00. What a deal.

Keep us posted on your Attitude dealings. Hopefully they will come through for you.

I decided to up the Nutes but only 1/3rd strength, so we really only added about 50ppm,, But I kept the Auto on 1/2 strength until the next feeding, cause she does not look like she needs it.

Mixed Half Gallon RO water.
0.8ml Floramicro
1.65ml Florabloom
13 Drops PH Up
-----------------
GETS ME TO
-----------------
PH = 6.01
PPM = 255
----------------
250 Watt MH Bulb and Fixture is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, so I can get the girls under a little better lighting.

Rusty when you say "Lucas Mixture" are you talking about this research?? http://www.angelfire.com/cantina/fourtwenty/articles/profiles.htm
I am just talking about the basic Lucas formula/mixture. Using General Hydroponics Micro and Bloom through the entire grow.

You mix 8ml per gallon of the micro and 16ml per gallon of the bloom, and that is supposed to be all you need throughout the grow. That is full strength, so you use 1/4 strength of that if you want to mix a 1/4 strength batch.

The thing with the Lucas formula, is if you run low watt lights, you use 5ml of the micro and and 10ml of the bloom (full strength), and if your running higher wattage, you use the 8-16 (full strength) mix. I am just trying to figure out if 250watts is considered HIGH,,, so i use the correct mixture and dont end up mixing too light.

I see. I have never tried the Lucas formula although I have heard of it. I know this is your"first hempy bucket grow", but have you ever used this any any other system ?

I remember you saying I should post a pic here. I have a crappy one from my phone. My hps causes funny bars on my camera. I have a wide variety that I am testing in 2 liters at the moment....

Also check out this 2L Hempy/DWC I am testing too.....2L-Hempy-dwc.jpg

It uses a very small amount of perlite and the plant seems to like it.
