nelson mandela was the leader of a group with a long long long track record of violent attacks on other anti-aparthied groups who wanted freedom from white-only rule, but not marxism. the ANC was mostly about marxism, not apartheid.

i dont have to "make" mandela into a "negative figure" (how quaintly ambiguous), he already is a marxist, and supporter of violent revolution, and head of a racist organization that seeks to suppress every person or group thats not african enough.

As I just got out of the Marines in Oct. of 2010; I feel I should tell you they dropped almost all standards to feed the troop surge they needed for the war. Felonies were commonly waived. There were 4 cars and one motorcycle stolen, barracks rooms were regularly robbed, there were spice (K2, herbal incense, whatever it's name is this week.) and bath salts dealers everywhere. Hell, we had pretty regular classes on the prominence of gangs sending new guys into the military to learn urban warfare tactics.

tldr: The military is like everywhere else, there's good and bad people. Just because someone has a uniform on, doesn't make them special. Ask anyone that hangs around military base long enough for the novelty to wear off.

the African National Congress was violent against anti-aparthied groups. the ANC was a violent organization pushing for marxist revolution in all of southern africa. they were popular among the blacks of south africa because of apartheid's opression, but there were real anti-aparthied groups which were frequently machine-gunned, car bombed, machete hacked, and "necklaced" by the ANC.

the ANC wanted marxist revolution, and peacefully overturning aparthied was considered counterproductive to their goals in the 70's. aparthied was a useful recruiting tool in the nation of south africa.

Now how about you address the "medical vacations" thousands of people take every year to Mexico and other southern countries because they can't afford U.S. health care, how about the bus junkets that retirees ride into Mexican border cities so they can purchase needed drugs that they just can't seem to pull together enough money for in the good old non-socialist United States.
