oh and i forgot to say ... i kinda like the offers that Sea of Seeds have been offering lately... i'm not in the market for anything right now ... but i've never seen so many quality freebies with a single order (well apart from that epic 15 seed haul i got from attitude last year) but S-of-S seem to have there shit nailed down at the moment ;-)

i didn't have the best of luck with barneys farm ... 80% germ rate ... green house seeds were great 100% germ rate ... dna we're 100% for me .... and worst of the lot was nirvana.... 10 seeds and only 5 germed, yes thats a crappy 50% for the northern lights auto's!

and i always use the tried and tested dechlorinated water and paper towel method so it is the product and for once not the idiot using it ...hahahaha

Fruity Chronic Juice is Herbies current freebie - and seeing as I'll now get four femmed seeds as freebies it's worth just buying one single seed of something to chance with and do a full crop of FCJ :)
Not sure yet though, gotta scout the scene a little first.

Does SoS do pick n mix? That could be the swinging factor.

Quick propo update;
More death at the lair...

SC is gone... as is LH. 1 Kandy Kush and 1 NLB

It seems that I must have waited too long to add food as they appear to have been cannibalising themselves :( the 2 that are left seem to want to go further but I guess we'll see eh.
I will buy more seeds soon, just have to decide what and when :)

I also took a second caramelo cut. I think It'll do better this time. Again, we'll see lol
My veg cab temp is still far too high, but I would guess that seedlings would love that? at 32Cish I think the thrips numbers are reducing too (I'm still spraying where I can).
This cut looks nicely sized compared to the last one and I'm much more hopefull about it :) I cut it at a node this time, used rooting gel this time instead of powder and have clamped it with the collar and propped it with pebbles, no pebbles were used last time and was just suspended. Suspending it is supposed to be okay with aeroponics, but I guess the lack of food didn't help last time.
Caramelo itself is doing very nicely under the high temps :)

I'm going to remove my FIRST cab which is currently not in use (I had considered it as a nursery). There is a vent directly behind it which I think is more important. Having the sheds second vent in use, I'm hoping, is going to help with my temps.

Just checked the PH of my water for the first time ever! Woo!

Is it no surprise that it was off the scale? LmaO! :wall:

So I worked out the ratio of vinegar to my 2 litre water bottles and got it bang on. PH is now 6.5 instead of 9 (pmsl). As long as vinegar works, I'll not bother with 'PH Down', it's much cheaper.

After all the things I've tried with this propogator, you'd think the PH level would have been the first.. :clap:

Nutes now in the propo;
Canna Rhizhatonic, organic rooting hormone
Vitalink, grow food.

Another two bite the dust! yes another two shrivelled up and dead LoL (gotta just laugh now cos it's ridiculous). No more growth on them at all since tap leaves and roots. I'm putting this down, mainly to my lack of nutrient and highly acidic water.

I'm now left with the one seedling. The one I popped just a few days ago, Northern Lights cross with Blueberry (Herbies freebie) and the clone I took last night.
The seed, as with the others, is straight into pebbles. Started it too late to pop it into a cube. Seems okay and is a little bit further than the others got, in that it has it's tap leaves and the jaggedness is pushing through :bigjoint:

The clone was laying flat when I went in to see it just now. Not sure about whether or not the PH being too high could've had anything to do with that. Doubtful, I think. I think it's just too hot in there, at 30C - 32C

I'm now thinking that the propo should go back in the kitchen, with the PH'd water, as it may be just too hot and too bright in the veg box. Any thoughts anyone?

What strikes me as interesting, botanically, is how the high acidity level seems to be perfectly acceptable for my soiled girls, but clearly the aero chicks are high maintenance :shock:

Soil acts as a buffer, so that's why it can handle the acidity better than the aero system...being aware of Ph is pretty much mandatory with hydro. That's crazy how the babies died :cry:. But we learn and move on!

Well that's gonna perk her up loads! Caramelo has a fan wooo!
In this case I'm gonna have to go take a pic of her progress ;)

I think I'm gonna (when I get round to it) order more blue cheese. I know I love it, so it's a winner already lol but I shall be prepping them in root riot cubes this time lols
Won't be for a few weeks yet though.

b right back with a pic or two...

Have any ideas why the edges of the Caramelo clone have gone black? She's otherwise standing up by herself now though and quite pert, even though she's changing a colour I've not seen before - looks like rot!
Oh, the seedling is Northern Lights x Blueberry. My hopes are low for this one as it's directly in pebbles.

Something that could explain the rotting clone leaves - I was checking out the timer for the aero pot as I wanted to adjust it. I thought it was just on too much cos every time I look, it seems to be on.
Watched the time for a while and viola, it wasn't turning round! Being a cheapo thing the connections are clearly welded together leaving it on permanently.
My clone was being drowned!
Aversion was claimed though... I have a spare timer :) Back to business lol apart from I now have no intake fan - f*ck!

man you're not having much luck are you? :-( ..... i'f your struggling with plant rot and mildew then its likely to be humidity ... if its root rot then your guess is a good as mine, as i grow in soil and have had some good results, i tend to stick to what i know. and water buckets and hydro is all greek to me fella

Poor babies.. that heat and humidity are really doing a number on them, eh? Glad you had a spare timer, though!

Thanks... but went out there before and temps are soaring, now 37C ish :( little clone is shrivelled up - far too graphic to post it here lol
But the Caramelo tower of weedza seems to, love it? :S Very odd. But VERY okay :)

I think I'm gonna have to think about re-arranging the ducting arrangements in my box. This may need a note pad lol and a massive zoot!

Okay, changed my venting arrangement and have brought the entire shed down by at least 3 degrees. Good start.

Seems my spare timer is no longer timing my aero pot, but standing in the 'off' position. And probably has been for some time, hence my Caramelo clone gone completely black and the seedling too. Hmmpfff! Godam cheap timers!!

Advice to noobs;
Always buy quality timers.

Okay, so Caramelo is still loving it, strangely. Flower box seems to be not growing at the moment and can't tell if it's soaring heat or just that part in its cycle - it is after all only one week left.

Thought;
My 'absent' Son is with me for the next two weeks so I'll have to wait till he's gone and bring the aero back indoors under the kitchen light. This time though I'll seed properly into cubes.

Gotta decide also what upgrades are needed from my sales, although I think the wife's already spent it all in her head!
I wonder if it's worth upping my exhaust from 4" to 5" - someone said don't have less than 6" for 600w, but my cooltube is 5" and all ducting and fans 4". If I upgrade the fan and duct, then I can't really fork out for another cool tube, natta mean?
I wanted a thermostat - cos my fans are really loud in the daytime (lights off) and my neighbours use-of-their-garden patterns have changed (either because they know I'm growing in my shed, or I'm being a paranoid twat. But the wife says it's loud too). So that's on the list... and spiggots and gromits and rhinos *sigh* I think it's time to sleep lol

Enough with the rambling to myself - night night peeps!
