Yeah but most of us don't have that luxury of buying in bulk from the manufacturer........in a pre-assembled panel I would stay away from them IMO, granted you know the industry way better than I do
120mm fans sound good, but I was more interested in your heatsink/mcpcb design......to deal with the 12! 10w diodes in that case.....ever thought of using remote drivers in future designs??? really like that Rhinogrow design/ longevity issues remain to be seen though..
That HSS panel's par reading is really low.......but they are using some plastic diffusion? cover over their 5w? leds(automotive rated lol)and NO cooling system/whacky
Don't know/or tested the par readings on Hans Panel........he has improved it with his new stock(replaced the blue cree xp-e with xt-e) and made it run cooler for more lumens/per watt(still 65w total per panel)...........

IMO no the penetration will not be an issue in that small a space. Especially considering the amount of light you want to purchase.Is a 5w diode that much of a difference from a 3w diode? I ask because I am debating between CLW solarflare 200 (eventually 2) or (1) PG260x(new model). I only plan o growing them 2 feet max. So will penetration be a big issue?

I've mentioned this before, but Han's panel has a 65w remote driver and this thing puts out a surprising amount of heat......it just makes sense to remove these hot and heavy driver from the casings; makes it lighter/ steps down the cooling requirements, less-no fans/ driver can be moved to the top of the room in summer near the exhaust or brought down near the plants in the winter for additional heat,etc................ add a dimmer function/ should be the future of panel designs IMO(evo v4 has dimming???)I overlooked the part where you mentioned remote drivers...
I had considered that, and may well be implemented into the 3rd design of ours, due out towards the very end of this year or early next year.

It's always been on my mind, and now it is within reachable means to be made. I know there's aquarium timers that do a stripped down version of what I need it to do. For growing, it'd be more complex, because there's much more than combos of white and blue. Not sure if it'd end up being a worth while thing, but it'd be fun to find out.

I am extremely interested in seeing how to solder Cree LEDs with the other brand LEDs on the same circuit board.There was a small hold-up in production, the factory workers weren't too keen on screwing down 44 individual pcb's (rather 1 large pcb containing all the LEDs) at the original agreed upon price, so we had to renegotiate the project and do some compromising.
The end results is a 2-3 week delay, but I am switching out the 20pcs of Cree 5w XPG cool white, for 6pcs Cree 10w XML natural white and 6pcs Cree 10w XML cool white (both top bins of course). And also, I switched out the deep red Epiled's (still top bin), with Philips Rebel deep red's (both bins, 650-660nm and 660-670nm). The power went up 5w (173w now, up from 168w), we added Philips and XML 10w, and will still be within our target price of $600 retail.
Should have pics in a couple weeks. Also expect a name change for the AF-150.
