How would you set up your 8'x4' tent?

So, in short, can I get really good yields with 2 600's? I mean a gram per watt level? Assuming everything else is correct of course.

Ahhhhhhh. yes. I see, thanks man. I'm not questioning your advise....just trying to fully understand. Do you happen to know how many lumens the same brand 1000w bulb has per watt? Again, just trying to understand.
The 1000w bulbs put out 155,000 lumens at 155 lumens/ per watt, which is 3.3 lumens per watt less. I do take other things into consideration as well, like and the cost of procuring and running larger/more powerful ancillary components to draw the heat produced by two 1000 lights in that grow space. The cost of electricity to operate two 1000's is also considerably more than two 600's.

Just found this thread
Imo 2x600 is ideal for a 4x8. And it's cheaper and easier to run than 2x1000. The only, only reason I could think of running 2x1000 is in the quest for some sort of density record. But if you're cropping for weight like the rest of us, the 600s will return more per watt-hour unless you're both expereinced and gifted.

That said, a 1000 on a light mover appeals mightily to me. Light movers are wonderful for dealing with spotlighting and penetration issues. I pulled a pound off a moved 600 (4x6 space) on my first and only try.
The Magnum XXXL hood fits beautifully in my 4x4 tent. Two or even three such will fit well in a 4x8; your prime issue will be pounds of load on those top members. Jmo ... cn

You can get away with 2x 600's if you SOG or flower short plants.
If you grow em big you'll want 2x 1000's.

Do you already have the magnum reflectors? Bigger isnt always better. Check this out, radiants win! and they're cheap.

My thinking about the magnum reflectors was to expand the light footprint to utilize the mylar walls and flooring more. Meaning max light angles and reaching all parts of the pant. If that makes sense...lol.

Id go with the 600s.with you being in a tent. Now if you were in a basement or somwhere cold all the time where you could pull some cold outside air it be different. The 600s will be perfect for you to get the most for money spent,Without having to run Exhaust,A/C all the time.To get a gram a Watt is alot for your first attempt be happy with .5 a watt until you get it dialed in.If you do a Ebb n Gro,or 2 3x3 trays its very possible to get a gram a watt, with a little practice.I didnt get a gram a watt till i got out of dirt. What method are you gonna go with cause your settings your goals pretty high for Yourself.Gl

What I like about my Magnum is that it has a square light footprint, sending most of it down. The mylar tent walls are nice but only a minor contributor. cn

I know I would just kill my plants tryin to go hydro at this stage of experience.....that shit is very difficult and requires alot more finesse.

It's not difficult, but it is laborious and requires an investment in materials and equipment. It's easier and less worrisome to grow in soil, especially for the first grows. Jmo. cn

I would happily agree...lol. I could just see me trying to adjust pH and such.....plants are all nutrient deprived and wilting....begging for mercy. :)

LOL too me it beats the hell out of hauling dirt Il haul water. When you learn your system its just as easy as Soil. But them damn nutes are not cheap and setup price can be if ya dont DIY.I started with a Waterfarm and they seem to breed around here now!!

Almost everyone disagrees lol but i have 3 1kw lights in my 4x8 tent... just had 2 3.5ft tall plants in it flowering for a month and my temps were steady at 78* an colder if i wanted. I have huge ac for a complete garage which i blocked off and ran 8" tube into the tent with my thermostat inside the tent.

Then i found out my plants were males and now the tent is empty lol. Dealing with heat isnt huge issue for me so i stayed with all 3 lights cause i need to get some money back for my equipment on both my tents so id rather have an extra light to helpout plants with me being noob on experience. After i harvest the 12 in veg now i will get 10x10 for the 3 lights so the plants can actually have room to grow.

i have a 4x8 space with x2 1k's in it with 12 plants under them. i use small 6" xtrasun reflectors and have a 740cfm 8" inline fan for exhaust (reduced down to 6") and another 740cfm 8" inline as a intake. room temps are maxed at 80F with this system. my home has a swamp cooler for ac so i shut vent in that room and put a portable 12k btu ac to keep that room consistant 74F so my intake takes in the cold air to the room and exhaust takes hot air out works well. x2 1k's in that space are great go with the 1k's for sure not that hard to cool at all.

pics are of current run 21 days in 12/12

Id say 2 x 600, 7 gallon smart pots , or 10 g cut down to 7. Subcool supersoil. Nugbuckets mainlining.

I am using Sunshine Mix #4 Aggregate Plus. I aslo don't have an extra ac unit to cool the room however, I will be exhausting outside if that makes a difference.

i love 8x4 tents, they are a room in a room and very easy to work with.

these are both done using 2x 600w cool tubes, i think 1200w is enough in a space this big, it would be interesting to see if the 2k could give you 40% more yield, i doubt it.

the first one is with a drainage table and small plants, i think this si ideal because 600watters cant penetrate beyond a foot. maybe just grow in trays like the second one as you can utelise more vertical space with the penetration a 1k gives you
