Okay, did not mean to offend! I'm going to make a panel based on what i think is ideal and then ill see how it goes! i'll also follow your grow here Stardust, good luck to you!

Keeps the plants " alert " for their survival...
Productive....

Specially with light -the language of plants- things are pretty complicated...
Supplying what seems- for human logic -efficient light for photosynthesis ,may drive the plants lazy,eventually.
If not cause other problems,also..
But ,maybe ,just "making it hard " a bit,plants get " alerted"...
Metabolism speeds up and many mechanisms are utilised for species survival...

I trust that there is a light combo that will "force " the plant to :

-increase resources need (nutrient /water assimilation )...

-increase leaf effective area and leaf effective "overall design " (lamina,petiole ) but overall canopy design..
Increased Leaf effective area means i ) more effective light harvest ii) bigger nutrient/energy storage.

-increase flowering ,as a combination of above and a stimulus ,an external "pressure " caused by the light itshelf ..
A light 'message' meaning " threat " ,to the right reaction center of plant ( survival reaction center ,that triggers " Massive flowering" .)


Does this make a case for a computer chip to control amounts of RGB throughout daylight... maybe even dim occasionally to simulate a bit of cloudiness?

In order to understand why R/B are the dominant diodes, one needs to look back. R/B WERE more efficient and therefor easier to make passable for a wide variety of uses. It is only in the last 2 years that the efficiency of whites have become competitive to where ONE white does the job of RGB with comparable lumen output. But if you grew up believing the 'earth was flat' then it could take a lot of deprogramming to reboot

That isn't exactly true. Reds have never been more efficient than whites. Blues have and generally speaking still are because White diodes are simply blues with a phosphorus coating to change the hue. Therefore blue LEDs will always (until they change the process of making a white chip completely) be <= whites.

Anyone have a reasonably priced solution for this?

I use a $2K PS Audio Premier Power Plant (replaced with their new version $3400). It actually reconstructs the current into a freshly made sign wave. It handles all my front end audio equipment. Amps go into a PS Audio 20 amp Ultimate Outlet, then into a dedicated 20 amp line


Upstairs tent: I use a VARIAC (variable ac) + a power strip into which are the pumps, timers, and HOT5 light. Downstairs (led tent) is direct into the wall

Where is everybody?

Picked up 3 more Utilitech 7w led with non-removeable globes @ $9.95; the identical ww were $19.95!

Yesterday I added 2 more Y sockets to my 4 socket vanity bar (only one has the second bulb). Don't know what took me so long to realize that the Ys allow me to angle the bulbs. So now I have 3 Ys, 2 with 3-4w ww/cw leds and one with ww + 7w Cool White- that one firing backwards, away from the plant.

I noticed the side of the plant away from the bar was not as thick, so this morning I moved the bar to the opposite side, and will do that until I get another bar up and running

Ya'll come back now, ya hear?

5th week of flowering, things are going pretty well. enjoy some pics!! we enjoy the smelll.. :eek:

Hopefully, from the 1st of November i ll be able to start and share my grow with you guys...

(F*ing pcb's are taking forever to arrive)

hmmm isnt that a nm range wich is not really uv light? Rather useless??? am i right that u want to use uv for increased resin production? Maxbe go for a reptile light or aquaritcs lights :) sry hope u understand me...

Uv is for increasing resin production ,yes...this spectrum (420-435) is not ideal,but its not that bad either...a better nm range for UV would be 390-410nm...but im close enough...;-)

The whole point of this expirement is to use only leds...im not gonna use any other type of light..

17th day in veg ,for the " unknown " ones...

Anyway..
From day 15 ,cycle has been 20 / 4 (Light 07:00 - 03:00 )..
Today ,before a while, added 3 more panels...
6 in total ..
137 Watts ( at plug,plus two time-switches...),all of 'em,drivers included...

Plants looking great ,now...
This was maybe the worst transplanting ,ever done...
It took almost 5 days,for the plants to recover...

When leaves curl at the tips and margins the plant is trying to retain moisture. When they curl down this is usually an indication of overfeeding, the feed is too strong on the outside of the root membrane so through reverse osmosis water passes from inside the plant across the root membrane to water down the strong solution outside the plant, it does this in an attempt to even out the pressure on both side of the root membrane.

Isn't that too much?

Since you have 3 plants you could leave one plant for some days with only 1 panel and the other two plants with 2 panels to test how they're going
