really? the one just past naalehu? that was there just a year or two back.

we never got to the green sand beach though. but we plan on returning.

I just looked it up, and yes; the green sand beach is in a dramatically eroded crater near Na'alehu. But the black sand beach at Kalapana was not available for view back in '96.

I recommend the green sand beach and the somewhat surreal treeless landscape surrounding it. It's like highest Scotland, but pleasant. cn
