Only in extreme cases.

In general though, it does.

Nice try streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetching to try to make warlord obama look good.

Didn't work though. :'(
Extreme cases? Like what?

By always do you mean since the beginning of gasoline, or just the last few years?

I would ask you to provide at least one shred of evidence because I am just not buying it.

Gasoline mixed with ethanol is cheaper, in the winter gasoline producers make a special winter blend and that blend is cheaper to produce. Another reason is because most refinery maintenance projects are done in the summer, making supply a bit tighter and hence prices a bit higher.

gasoline mixed with ethanol is MORE expensive currently, it only seems cheaper when corn is dirt cheap, which corn currently aint.
ethanol may seem cheaper at times, but thats all subsidies. you pay the burden whether you realize it or not.

winter blend gasoline has more ethanol (to prevent condensation in fuel tanks) but mainly winter gasoline is cheaper because people use less after the summer recreational driving season ends. less demand always drives prices down.
otherwise youre correct, refinery maintenance MUST be done in summer, for safety, and higher summer demand pushes prices higher in conjunction with the slightly restricted supply.

I have heard that the principal thing making winter gas cheaper is the regulatory freedom to blend in more cheap-ass volatiles. cn

So you would agree that gasoline does not ALWAYS become cheaper in the winter?

the cheap additives allowed in some places during winter, when storm winds and rain will prevent the formation of photochemical smog can help reduce the prices, but even this proves the hypocrisy of our laws and regulations.

you cant see smog as easily in winter so it doesnt exist, so we should only run coal plants at night, when the wind is blowing or theres an obscuring fog...

california does not allow cheap additives, even in winter, but our prices go down in winter as well. just not as much as other places.

The funny thing about the price of Oil and the Bush Administration is, they did nothing to protect the "american" consumer from the Wall St. fraud. The Oil Companies are the victim of fortune. but show no remorse.
