Hey gun nuts, is this your idea of a perfect society?

your claims that lightbulbs razors and saw blades only wear out because they are designed to do so is ridiculous, ignorant and retarded. bringing up fictional glass swords and glass gears as a reductio ad absurdum is some of the weakest shit i have ever seen, engineers (real ones) are constantly working to make shit MORE DURABLE and MORE EFFECTIVE.
You're a moron. Not going to reply to the rest as I said I wouldn't, but I would like to rip apart your incorrect opinion of engineers. BTW, my ignorance, (oh wait, I'm an engineer!), yeah thats right..

We are capitalists as well idiot. You do understand that part of my job is running through the math so that when I sell a product warranty, I'm statistically going to MAKE money, PROFIT, off of that Warranty? Warranties are just a warm cozy feeling for the consumer, but in reality are a cash cow for the engineer. Nothing like getting money for nothing.
No you don't understand that because you seem to think consumer products are held to the same engineering standards as military grade products. LOL

You deaf buffoon, listen. Lightbulbs ARE designed to fail after 1000Hours, it even SAYS SO on the box they are supplied in.
Razors, like Shick disposable razors, ARE MANUFACTURED to only last 1 shave. So you have to buy another, hence making it "disposable". They are NOT made to the same standard as a well made barber blade. Have you ever even used a disposable razor?
You are one of the most ignorant, incorrect, arrogant people I've met. Almost everything you say is COMPLETELY WRONG.

Lastly, @ RED:
Yeah, FOR THEIR COMPANY, or the company THEY ARE WORKING FOR. Not for the consumer. It's called supply and demand, but you wouldn't know what that is because your ignorance. If they can sell a product that cost less to manufacture, for the same profit, they do so; let me lay this out for you again; if they can make the product cheaper, inherently resulting is less quality, they DO.

Freaking rent-a-engineers

Yes, but you got to assume a zombies body is going to have more of a gelatinous texture. I think a bad ass samurai with a super sharp blade could do 5 bodies. Not completely unfathomable imo.

They have episodes of "Deadliest Warrior" on Netflix which demonstrates blades that can cut through 3 large pig torsos, thus equivalently having the capability of cutting through 3 human torsos. Check em out.

I forgot which blade it is, but I've seen a few documentaries on it, showing the manufacturing process, as well as the micro-structure and material characteristics. The blade has a "shark tooth" like structure, that leads to the "shark teeth" fracture away, instead of the blade dulling, so that is has a self sharpening effect.

Anything can be said as "bad." Things are disposable because the price point, that's it. Sure I can make a $40 light bulb and I can make an $80 pack of blades.

And guess what, I can sell those. But, can I make a long term business with these prices? Of course, not. Yet, some will sell.

People that think there is a vast conspiracy, simply wish there was. It makes everything so simple. Like God, Space Aliens, Tri-Lateral Illuminate, etc. If there is this higher power then we don't have to face the facts.

It is us and only us. Ours to screw up, no blame for high powers. That just a weak punt from fear.

We demand the consumer culture, we support it, we want instant and throwaway at cheap prices. We the People. It is the engine of our economy. We have a better economy than anyone. That is a good thing. So, the higher power to blame is Us.

And for my brothers in Engineering. Pity not the consumer, make the price point.

Are you speaking to me?
I don't think there's any conspiracy... I'm an engineer who designs new things for a living, I kinda get how it works... Also, thanks for supporting my factual claim that consumer products could indeed be made to higher standards, and that everything has to do with capitalism and supply vs demand.

If you did some research instead of just flapping your feminized lips you would know that:

Did you know.....• A 1997 high school shooting in Pearl, Miss., was halted by the school's vice principal after he retrieved the Colt .45 he kept in his truck.
• A 1998 middle school shooting ended when a man living next door heard gunfire and apprehended the shooter with his shotgun.
• A 2002 terrorist attack at a...n Israeli school was quickly stopped by an armed teacher and a school guard.
• A 2002 law school shooting in Grundy, Va., came to an abrupt conclusion when students carrying firearms confronted the shooter.
• A 2007 mall shooting in Ogden, Utah, ended when an armed off-duty police officer intervened.
• A 2009 workplace shooting in Houston, Texas, was halted by two coworkers who carried concealed handguns.
• A 2012 church shooting in Aurora, Colo., was stopped by a member of the congregation carrying a gun.
• At the recent mall shooting in Portland, Ore., the gunman took his own life minutes after being confronted by a shopper carrying a concealed weapon. 2500 times last year alone legal gun owners stopped violent crime when confronted with it long before any police assistance ...

And yet, an 11 year old from a good family, etc, was arrested last week. He carried a gun to school for the first time. He said he felt like someone had to be armed. No one was protecting him, at school.

good to know that even an 11 year old can figure out what to do to defend himself.

He was exhibiting the wrong execution of the right idea. Are you one of these people who think life is fair? Or that there are no evil people in this world? Do you think just giving the suicide bomber a hug will stop him from pulling the trigger on his bomb suit? Horrible shit happens to innocent people every minute of every day, and guns only make up a very small part of it. Stupid kids get that way because of stupid parents. I am one who saved my own life as well as a few others because I carry a gun everywhere I go. My threat was two meth-crazed bikers from hell who decided to raise hell at the secluded hot spring I have visited for decades, a normally peaceful and beautiful place. In every country where guns are outlawed, the incidence of alternative weapons used to murder skyrockets, and the numbers of murder are no less. During my time in Nicaragua as a Marine I watched men with machetes kill by the hundreds each day, the victims were defending themselves with assault rifles and still the knife wielders killed hundreds. The logic of blaming guns for human acts is flawed. Throughout history, long before the invention of the gun, people were able to massacre hundreds, even thousands in a single day and you whine about the method in which one man killed less than thirty people? Pull your head out. I can tell you as sure as shit that any innocent who ever looked down the barrel of a gun spent a moment wishing they had brought one. One thing I know, if I ever find you begging for help, I'll just take your advice and throw my gun into the nearest garbage, maybe you can offer him a joint in exchange for your life.

and if you made a bandsaw that lasts 3x longer than the best of the rest people would pay you a premium for those blades,, far beyond the 3x simple math would indicate, just for the increased reliability and reduced downtime during blade changes.
fuck, i spent just shy of $100 for a titanium pocketknife (not titanium dioxide coated, but solid titanium alloy) just for the promised durability. it does in fact work great, and needs sharpening less often than my steel blades but it still requires honing regularly even though everything i use it on is SOFTER than titanium (softer than steel too). there simply are NO eternally sharp blades, katanas are NOT plated, and the mad claims of weeabos are just mad claims. nothing more.

the whiney hyperbole and subject changing is merely an attempt to paper over his retarded statements about eternally sharp swords (which do NOT exist) and his claims of self sharpening blades which are equally fictional.
when there is a self sharpening blade or a blade that never gets dull it will be big news, but it remains entirely in the realm of fiction.

if such a thing were real he would have delighted in offering up an example of this eversharp vorpal blade, rather than his beamish galumphing gyreing and tulgey slything about the various and sundry jaberwockies he has slain.

Not to my way of thinking. They regulate ammo very tightly, and they don't recognize a right i consider as central as the individual right enumerated in the 2nd: the right to not own a gun. cn
never thought they were restrictive of ammo.
thought they were what america modeled our 2nd amendment off of.

My history here is not as strong as I'd like it to be, but I think the Second grew out of the English experience. The longbow was a weapon that dominated the early part of the Hundred Years' War. It was accurate and capable against the heaviest armored cavalry. However it took tremendous skill and practice to be a useful weapon of war, and edicts were issued requiring the menfolk to organize into militia and practice the bow regularly.

I wonder if a recognition of the utility of a practiced rifleman under lay part of the 2nd's rationale. The other, and the one that the dissenting justice's opinion directly offends, is that we the people have final right of refusal in re the government's legitimacy. cn

We the people.
Of course.
Separation of powers.
The very essence of whats taking place is what the 2nd is there for, times like these, when the media machine/rich/powerful want us disarmed. Gov is corrupt to the core at local, state and federal level.

In case anyone wanted to see a granite saw blade. These blades do dull, the diamonds actually wear off the blade altogether through repeated use.

I know it's apples and oranges, but if you lose one of these teeth, the machine gets shut down immediately, no ifs ands or buts!

EDIT: From a "Knife myths" page;

A "V"-shaped or hollow-ground edge gets dull faster than an arch-shaped edge. The edge of a quality knife does not wear away; it gets dull because it folds over on itself. The secret to keeping knives sharp longer is to create an edge that resists folding. An arch-shaped edge has more metal supporting the cutting edge and will stay sharp two- to three-times longer than a "V"-shaped or hollow-ground edge.

A very simple reduction.

But, "if you don't want one, don't own one," doesn't work well when someone else's gun can affect you just the same. It's not from lack of trying that someone can't seem to get away from guns.

Think about this;

If your liberty involves taking someone else's liberty away, you yourself are a tyrant of sorts.

I can totaly see that perspective, as it is right. the only flaw with most regulations is all of them have a weakness, and that is the human factor. This is the main reason I will never give up my weapons, just for the simple fact that there will always be someone out there who has total disregard for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and that is the mofo I keep my gun around for.
