When a gun is purchased, the background check verifies that the buyer is allowed to own the gun he is trying to buy, if he is not allowed then he is not able to buy and own the gun, although why I have to point out that buying results in owning is beyond me but apparently you hopophobes have trouble with that concept. This could easily happen to me. I see the guns I own maybe 4 times a year. I wouldn't notice one missing for months sometimes. If I'm you in this story, teenage me tells the cops I'm just holding it for a friend, adult me gets to tell the cops it's none of their damn business.

What happens if you commit a crime with my gun, that I failed to report stolen? Am I libel? If you say I gave it to you and I say you stole it but never reported it stolen.......
