I'm just going off of our short history here so correct me if I'm wrong. Prohibition throughout history has worked this way... If you make something more difficult to own legally, more will own it illegally. Not a fan of prohibition, huge fan of the constitution.

perhaps the fact that the rounds were in his pocket rather than in the gun ready to shoot means there was only 2 victims rather than the many more it could have been

is this a case of california's gun laws helping in part to stop this being worse?
How many gun laws do you think this kid broke?

How did those gun laws help again?

are you playing dumb or is your old memory just failing you?
If you are implying that registration would prevent those previously convicted of felonies from buying or owning guns, then what is the purpose of a background check? Are you just dumb, or is your proglodyte mind failing you?

What would registration accomplish?
Prove that the gun was legally purchased, and in fact belongs to YOU.

If not, you go straight to jail. No questions asked.

I thought you wanted to get illegal guns out of criminals hands .... or is the inconvenience of it all just not worth it to you?

no, more stringent, tougher requirements would never catch the odd criminal here and there.

same formula every time there's another school shooting. you guys go into hyper-defensive mode claiming that there is nothing wrong. yet the hyper-defensive mode says otherwise.

can't wait until you die, old man.

The police already know who can and cannot carry firearms. I fail to see how registration will help the police at all.

Scratch a liberal, expose a fascist. It is so comforting to me to know that fascists are looking out for my interests by thumbing their noses at the constitution.

Background check would prove that you are legally permitted to buy the gun, and when registered to you on a central database it would provide law enforcement quick access to verify that you are in fact the lawful owner of said gun.

Seems pretty simple to me. Don't we want to crack down on the "bad guys"? This would provide framework to possibly catch one of the "bad guys" with an illegal gun prior to using that illegal gun to carry out a crime.

lol

remind me again about california's gun laws

and as a result of those laws which guns would be easy to get your hands on?
How many laws did this kid break again?

Marijuana is illegal in California right?

Are you deluding yourself purposely or just trolling people?

you can't even explain how common sense gun safety is inconsistent with the constitution, you just spout off "constitution!!! arrrgggghhhhh!!!!" like some senile old coot.

Where are all these gun *checks* going to occur?

A felon CANNOT have a gun. It doesnt matter if it is his gun or someone elses gun. The bad guys have illegal weapons that they have no intention of registering....

You keep trying to punish LEGAL gun owners.

the flag aspect of this is the scariest-

it almost seems........................

as if most don't even understand the basics of guns and what makes each what. based on that simple ignorance, hope of gun bans, based on the aspect of how scary the word "assault" is very conspicuous, at the least.

but then comes the boy witht the hunting gun and box of shells in his pocket. now all gun types have been used in mass murder attempts, in a rather consecutive fashion.
.

did he have on an orange vest? think of the ban lobby's festival opportunity.

I don't think "simple" means what you think it means. A background check would expose prior felony convictions, which would disqualify a felon from buying the gun. What purpose would registration serve?

now your just playing dumb

is it or is it not true that it is much much harder to get your hands on high capacity long guns in california?

this kid got his hands on a gun that is easy to get (a double barrel shot gun)

he went in with surplus ammo (in his pockets)

do you not think if he had a choice he would have preferred to have them ready in his gun?
