"Colored only" after school tutoring

when did i say white was synonymous with wealth and that we should feel ashamed?

i am simply arguing that because of our unique history, we should acknowledge that it has had effects on our citizens, ands that we should want to work to correct the sins of our past.

do you think the effects of centuries of persecution can simply be erased overnight?
You never said that. I said you act like that. Through reading your posts that's the impression I get when you talk about black people not having the same amount of opportunities because their ancestors were enslaved so giving them special attention is like the least we could do or something.

No matter how you slice it, this action taken by the school is offensive and racist. What are they implying? Are they implying blacks need more schooling? That they all live in the ghetto or in poverty? That when they move through life it is predetermined that their skin color will hold them back from equal opportunities? Why specifically target a group of people based on their ethnicity? Why not make education equally accessable to all in need of it instead of stereotyping? I just don't feel that any special privledges based on skin color are necessary and beneficial.

you have no idea how i act, all you have are your own impressions based on text on a screen. has more to do with you applying your own attitudes towards what i write then how i act.

how is it racist to work towards ending the achievement gap?

read a history book, it might give you some hints.

it took us centuries to come to the conclusion that you just did, except the whole time we maintained one race on top of the other. you don't think we should at least make some attempt to correct this centuries long error? or should we just say "woops, we fucked up. now YOU fix it"?

when did i say we were better than blacks?

think of it this way: if we were a majority black country, founded by blacks, and whites were brought in as slaves, then freed but disenfranchised and segregated and faced institutionalized racism, would you be against helping whites to achieve the same footing as those that profited off their enslavement and discrimination?
Yes, any freed man should have been compensated. 10 acres and a mule give or take.

There are a dozen or so cities that have been run by corrupt political machines and reverends for decades. Those cities are highly populated black and riddled in poverty. When you remove those cities from any data and you'll see that there is no "achievement gap" (damn if that doesn't sound like a phrase from an Ayn Rand novel). Blacks, whites and browns ARE on equal footing in this country.

The problems in cities like Detroit, Chicago, Watts, Compton, Birmingham, Memphis, Gary, Flint are not because the citizens are a certain color. FWIW leadership in those cities absolutely agree with you. It's not their fault.

so what you're saying is that if we eliminate the predominately black areas of the nation, problem solved?

i know you don't mean that in the stormfront red way, but what you're basically saying is "if we ignore the most affected areas and focus on the least affected areas, it's like there is no difference at all!". it's kind of silly.

No no, I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying if you ignore those areas you will see that color has nothing to do with success. Those areas have everything to with poverty and that's where are focus should be. First we have to figure out the why. You have declared it's because they are black. I disagree. I say the why is piss poor corrupt leadership and an inordinate amount of power given to racist religious leaders.

It's the system in other words. A system you and your ilk perpetuate by saying it's because they are black.

bolded part is correct, the next part is false and you will not find me saying it.

poverty has nothing to do with melanin, but melanin did have everything to do with who was enslaved and persecuted over the course of centuries, and sais enslavement and persecution tends to add viciously to the cycle of poverty.

do you get what i'm saying now? or am i still just saying stuff i never said?

What could be the name of our achievement gap oversight committee? We need an awesome government name. "The Committee to Establish Fairness and Equality in Outcomes and Achievements for Minorities (or just Black for Buck and his type)" rolls off the tongue. I bet the bills and policies will have cool names too.

dude, read back.

not sure why you think this is melanin related, this is all history related. history just happened to treat one race a little better than the other.

ok true. it was a figure of speech. You come across that way.

how is it racist to work towards ending the achievement gap?
What acheivement gap? I wasn't aware I was better off than my peers because I am white. To say blacks are less capable of achievements without special consideration is racist.

read a history book, it might give you some hints.
I know why people have oppressed and segregated ethnic groups in the past but why should we continue to stereotype and treat people as different today?

So you say two wrongs make a right? I say the past cannot be fixed but the present can.

If the non rape victim is a poor white kid, sure. So what if the black kid is pretty well off and still gets better treatment than a poor white kid, make sense yet?

You have not come right and said that blacks are inferior but if you sure have danced around it. In any typical middle class neighborhood the kids will have relatively equal opportunities that will have nothing to do with color. Blacks are not affected one bit by slavery over 150 years ago. We are a couple generations removed from an amazing civil rights movement that we look back on now knowing how different things are today because of it.

Our society has gone through it's share of growing pains. We reach different stages of enlightenment and move forward. Until you guys stop making excuses and blaming race we are being held back from the next stage. If you can't admit the policies and leadership of those highly populated black areas that are ravaged poverty are the problem and not the color of people's skin we are going to keep repeating the cycle.

I know you are not a hateful bigot and are not wanting to do this out of spite, but it's the same results if you were. I don't think you guys realize how bigoted your stance is.
