Prevention is the best cure for mites is what i've found. You won't find poisons in our buds though. Our idea of prevention doesn't have anything to do with a bug sprayer and poisons. It's everything to do with making sure you don't contaminate the grow by bringing in unwanted creatures.TRUE!-
avid is nerve gas cooked up by nazis. no joke. that shit is bad news. i know a ton of folks that use avid, monthly. they are always the same guys charging the high dollar. i told 'em they don't care, they want the money. they send pics of their mite free plants to high times.
always seem to be the same guys using heavy metal growth regulators.
killing mites naturally is easy, you have to be a gardener though, which entails dedication, sacrifice, and attention to detail.
The more you learn about mites the better chance you have of keeping them out of your garden. Also will understand how to deal with them once you get contaminated. Lots of information all over the internet.what to know about mites and what can kill them
Why not use CO2 ?TRUE!-

Murfy if the plants shut down their CO2 intake during the dark period , why not bring the CO2 level up to 10,000 PPM to kill the pests ? By the way , how many plants did you have in your 5X5 , I could not get the other pictures to come up , but it looked like a cool grow system .Why not use CO2 ?
[SIZE=+0]so raising the concentration to 10,000 ppm (1%) or higher for several hours will eliminate pests such as whiteflies and spider mites[/SIZE][SIZE=+0] in a greenhouse.[SUP][25][/SUP] Carbon dioxide is used in greenhouses as the main carbon source for Spirulina algae.[/SIZE]
Agricultural and biological applications
Plants require carbon dioxide to conduct photosynthesis. Greenhouses may (if of large size, must) enrich their atmospheres with additional CO[SUB]2[/SUB] to sustain and increase plant growth.[SUP][23][/SUP][SUP][24][/SUP] A photosynthesis-related drop (by a factor less than two) in carbon dioxide concentration in a greenhouse compartment would kill green plants, or, at least, completely stop their growth. At very high concentrations (100 times atmospheric concentration, or greater), carbon dioxide can be toxic to animal life, so raising the concentration to 10,000 ppm (1%) or higher for several hours will eliminate pests such as whiteflies and spider mites in a greenhouse.[SUP][25][/SUP] Carbon dioxide is used in greenhouses as the main carbon source for Spirulina algae.
In medicine, up to 5% carbon dioxide (130 times atmospheric concentration) is added to oxygen for stimulation of breathing after apnea and to stabilize the O[SUB]2[/SUB]/CO[SUB]2[/SUB] balance in blood.
It has been proposed that carbon dioxide from power generation be bubbled into ponds to grow algae that could then be converted into biodiesel fuel.
Its good that your checking this stuff out ,i here lots about predatory mites good things
abamectin | Avid | For commercial use only on ornamental plants. Primarily effective against twospotted spider mite; less effective against mites on conifers. Limited systemic movement. |
In order to raise predatory mites you have to feed them spider mites. Predatory mites aren't the best method for prevention because it's possible to inadvertently contaminate your grow with spider mites that came with your predator mites. Not likely but possible.Predatory mites (Hypoapsis), jumping spiders, etc. will stay on patrol and clean house. If the soil is natural, then the system will trigger the plant's natural immune response.
Start the soil with nematodes, crab shell and neem.
my opinion.
Their reproduction has more to do with environment than food source. Mites love it dry and warm and need a certain number hours of light to reproduce. 12 isn't enough......They won't reproduce if there's no food, that's true. And it's a $25 application, otherwise I like the "kill a critter with a critter" mentality.
