I've got a few older grow books that were passed on to me... some good info, but pretty outdated stuff.

And an old Sensi Seed Bank catalog that has all the strains they had available in 1995. Kinda neat... some of you older nerds may have seen a few of these!

I first got into growing in 94. I was working at a pet store and would trade dog food for herb. Well one day the dude comes by and says he doesn't have all the herb but would I take 4 little plants in trade. I don't know why, but something inside of me said to go for it. I had no idea why since I had never grown before, but looking back now I realize it was one of those pivotal moments where the decision you make will take your life in one of two opposite directions. So I stuck them in my closet and threw a shoplight in there. Man, that was funny. My buddy came over and saw them in my closet and looked horrified. I guess he had grown before, because he goes home and comes back with The Marijuana Growers Guide and Indoor Marijuana Horticulture. I studied those books for months! A couple of trips to the hardware store and I had a little grow in my closet. Until my dad found it. That was when I realized I needed to move out. (I was in my early 20s and living with my dad)
In 94 information was a bit more scarce than it is today and we had like 3 hydro stores in So Cal.
The owner of the hydrostore I went to in Newport Beach was a grower (surprise, surprise!) and eventually hooked me up with clones. From 95 - 98 I grew Northern Lights with a buddy in a spare bedroom in his mobile home (we were roommates) learning from the hydro guy. In 98 I was finally able to go big for a while.
Those were fun times, learning by the seat of my pants. Screwing things up, and eventually growing some seriously dank NL. My only real regrets are that I didn't get to Amsterdam when I was in my 20's and could afford it, and that we never made an effort to move beyond the NL into other strains. We had steady customers and were doing well, but we missed out on a lot of good strains.
