Hey nerds, new to the site. Hope everyone is puffin' tough today. Did Mr. Subcool start a new company called Son's of Dank? Just wondering. Does the apostrophe in Son's denote some special weed nerd meaning or something?????? It doesn't seem to need to be there. Am I missing something??????? Keep it Real, Keep it Dank and Fuck You In Advance to any punk ass haters that can't handle the truth!!!!!!! Later
It means that neither Sub nor the printer caught the misspelling. :)

I want to get one for the shirts and take a black marker to the apostrophe.

I had a lot on my plate it will be fixed

Sub
While I might have given you a little ribbing about it (as above) I don't think anyone really thinks it matters, even me. And I was just joshin. I don't mean to harp on it. Shoot man, with everything you do, a little misspelling on a shirt is nothing. At least we know that you're not a machine. :)

tga en espana! i can't wait.
El Dankarino!

Sub and other nerds, what is your recommendation if you only had to choose from one book to read up on in depth cannabis botany particularly from the angle of a grower.

I have Jorge Cervante's book. It is interesting but outdated by the skilled growers and breeders on this site (one thread here has DIY LED builds!).

I would like to read Ed Rosenthal's book - Marijuana Grower's Handbook: Your Complete Guide for Medical and Personal Marijuana Cultivation by Ed Rosenthal and Tommy Chong (June 8, 2010)

And of course I will keep watching the Weed Nerd!

Robert Clarks marijuana Botany it can be found online.
That is a great book. A little advanced for most people. Mendel wrote a book on genetics but it is based on sweet pea plants. This is the first book they make you read when you take genetics. Link: http://anthro.palomar.edu/mendel/mendel_1.htm

I want to find a good MMJ business book. Espescially the chapter on dealing with collectives/dispensaries. That is why I follow the Nerd King :)

I've got a few older grow books that were passed on to me... some good info, but pretty outdated stuff.

:P And an old Sensi Seed Bank catalog that has all the strains they had available in 1995. Kinda neat... some of you older nerds may have seen a few of these!

Show some of the strains please!

This was the book that changed my life (1977)

Now I need to find out where I can get the hardcopy version of Dank 2.0!

I first got into growing in 94. I was working at a pet store and would trade dog food for herb. Well one day the dude comes by and says he doesn't have all the herb but would I take 4 little plants in trade. I don't know why, but something inside of me said to go for it. I had no idea why since I had never grown before, but looking back now I realize it was one of those pivotal moments where the decision you make will take your life in one of two opposite directions. So I stuck them in my closet and threw a shoplight in there. Man, that was funny. My buddy came over and saw them in my closet and looked horrified. I guess he had grown before, because he goes home and comes back with The Marijuana Growers Guide and Indoor Marijuana Horticulture. I studied those books for months! A couple of trips to the hardware store and I had a little grow in my closet. Until my dad found it. That was when I realized I needed to move out. (I was in my early 20s and living with my dad)

In 94 information was a bit more scarce than it is today and we had like 3 hydro stores in So Cal. :) The owner of the hydrostore I went to in Newport Beach was a grower (surprise, surprise!) and eventually hooked me up with clones. From 95 - 98 I grew Northern Lights with a buddy in a spare bedroom in his mobile home (we were roommates) learning from the hydro guy. In 98 I was finally able to go big for a while.

Those were fun times, learning by the seat of my pants. Screwing things up, and eventually growing some seriously dank NL. My only real regrets are that I didn't get to Amsterdam when I was in my 20's and could afford it, and that we never made an effort to move beyond the NL into other strains. We had steady customers and were doing well, but we missed out on a lot of good strains.
