Why is corporate crime any more forgivable than violent crime when corporate crime affects a hell of a lot more people?
Show me corporate crime... I dont see it anywhere.
The utility companies are regulated by the government. They have to ask permission to raise their rates.
The mortgage companies offer people the benefit of living in a home for 30 years while paying for it. I never saw someone forced into taking a mortgage out on a house.
The food and beverage companies compete to offer various products that people CHOOSE to buy.
People CHOOSE to work for corporations, small companies, the government, whoever they want to...
Where is the corporate theft?
I can tell you I paid over 3,000 dollars in property taxes for the privilege of owning property. I get to shell that out every year or the government will come and forcibly take the property away from me and auction it off to someone else to pay them.
I pay over 7% of what is left of my income to the state and federal government for the privilege of buying goods and services. There is no choice, I must simply fork it over at point of sale or I am out of luck.
I pay 15% of my income to the federal government which promises to pay me back at some date if I manage to live that long. I dont have a choice, I am forced to pay that money into the system and chances are the program will be modified or closed long before I get my payout. However, if I try to evade that, a government organization will simply loot my bank account, put liens against my property and seize whatever they choose to putting me in the position of guilty before proven innocent in the law.
The government gets the lion's share of profit on every gallon of gas I put in my tank. I pay over 15% tax on my phone bill to the government to subsidize other people's free phones and calls.
I can go on and on about the mandatory confiscation of my income that goes to the real criminals in society and yet you somehow think that corporations are the bad guys. You should feel kind of good that corporations are taxed at the highest rate in the world here for the privilege of earning a profit.
