You know, not that many people that get deployed actually shoot someone; much less kill them. In my unit, the rate was somewhere in the range of 1% actually taking and returning fire. So I'd say plenty of people survive the encounters. In fact, most all of them do live to tell the tale.

Because, you know, the Taliban TOTALLY wasn't running Afghanistan and supporting Al-Queda, and Osama TOTALLY wasn't hiding there before he fled to Syria...

Links? I have never seen a number close to over a million reported as casualties of US troops. On another note; I was under the impression that most of the civvie casualties were a result of bombings and drone strikes. Once again, not the Marines; that's the Air Force.

I don't see any war that fulfills the twin claim: liberating a country and in the last decade. The last country whose liberation we assisted/effected (afaik!) was Kuwait, and that's more than twenty years past now. I would like Hemlock to answer my question. cn
