The possibility that you could own a gun and be able to defend yourself is enough to stop a lot of violence. Tim is oblivious to this fact. He thinks he is safe because he doesn't have a gun.
In reality, he is only safe because of the 2nd amendment and because there probably isn't much violence near his home.
If you get rid of all guns it will make it easier for criminals to commit crimes.
There will always be a black market for guns so long as guns exist. Do you really believe USA has the resources to stop guns from getting into the USA if we can't even keep people out?
saying getting rid of guns will make it easier for criminals to commit crimes is, first off, an opinion. and my opinion says your opinion is wrong. like i said before there are many, many forms of non lethal self defense, that can be used a preventative measures against all crime, and they dont kill people intentionally or accidentally.
even though the act of defending yourself is justifiable, it is still an act of violence in itself, so thats saying 2 wrongs make a right. using non lethal forms of defense to protect yourself is still a violent act but the difference is nobody dies. violence is wrong but its a part of life, the key in my opinion is limiting it and its consequences.
also, you are true, i do live in a safe neighborhood, at least i think (lol). but when i was growing up i did not, i lived on 14th street and 7th ave, stuffed in the corner of the city, middle of the ghetto. so b.s., when we were young, my little brother was outside playing in our backyard and across the street a car drove through a grass field and shot at the house on the other side of the alley, while he was playing in our yard! i got a good job and was able to choose my house, neighborhood and car because i dont want my kid to grow up in that environment, saftey is the key. people in this neighborhood feel safe, therefore dont need a gun, where people living in the ghetto do not feel safe and feel the need for a gun. thats a big part of this too, the overall safety and well being of the citizens. and its fucked up its reached the point where we feel we need guns for protection.
your point about there being a black market for guns is very good, and true. but saying bad people will still be bad doesnt mean we shouldnt do what (imo) is in the best interest of the people. i do appreciate your comment tho.
Well I'm creepy, close your eyes.
That 1875 rules does not stand against Heller. And you need to read a heck of a lot more about that little phrase, the 9th Amendment. It is the basis of All Rights. It means that even the un-expressed or un-implied freedom to come are not excuded as Rights. It has a basis in the legal difintions in England. It was meant to make sure of individual sovereignty, actual, for all time.
New rights emerge and belong to WE the People. They are not to be defined and limited,by the elected govt, in advance or even too soon. But, these new definitions, such as gay rights, have to be given time and are state by state. So spake SCOTUS, recently.

education is always the greatest tool any society has. in this case however i believe its more logical to get rid of guns or make them almost impossible to acquire, rather than take the chance that you child is hanging out with another child who is less educated
No, the 2nd. So, that is an un-consitutional failure of thought. Yu cannot get rid of guns and and you can't make them impossible to get. There are hundreds of millions of guns.
Kids that are not educated point guns at people. And we cannot protect them unless they know.
There is only one choice here.
it is an impossible dream to try to get rid of guns and we will shoot back, before that happens.
This country you live in and the one that does the heavy lifting to protect the Sea Lanes would not exist without guns. So think again and grow a spine. Guns protect us so you don't have to own one.
dude, dont even get me started on gay right. thats worse than the gun issue. gay people are still people and this reminds me an awful lot like the 3/5 of a person...like they dont deserve the same rights as us. wtf? i know theres a process but gay rights seems to me like its common sense.
the 1875 ruling says that congress wont infringe, the 9th amendment says that just because they named some rights doesnt mean those are they only rights you get or that your rights in the future can be with held (patriot act 2001.....) so they are similar. neither one addresses automatic weapons. because just like technology has advanced, so should the law we live advance with them. thats why i said the constitution in a living document and changes with the times. it needs to change now to make citizens safer.
also, educated kids are still kids. as a parent my job is to protect my son before he requires the protection, and to educate him before he requires the education.
i know its impossible to get rid of every gun. my opinion is that guns are medievil and we've evolved past the need for them, therefore they should not be. my common sense says its not gonna happen.
why do you keep saying weird stuff like "we will shoot back" and "pl
ease know we will go after this govt WE elected with sticks and stones if WE NEED TO. Human waves. WE will draw the worlds attention."
