I though of just building a wall half way through a bedroom? Using the side furthest away from the door :)
Converting a room is definitely the way to go if you own the property and want to grow indoors for any substantial amount of time.

We're currently in the process of splitting an extra bedroom in the basement into a Veg Room & a Flower Room, building a drying room in the back of our laundry room, and probably will set up a separate tent for mothers in a separate room. Currently using a temporary box built into a different bedroom to grow the whole time so we can invest harvest profits into the real room.

Sounds like you've gotta plan there buddy :) Hahaa i would b renting the place, so a temp wall & Window cover would work nice :) Im defo sticking to a Wilma 8 now, i just need ta know how ment of what watt lights i need. 2x 250w? 1x 600w? Would rather the 250s but then im looking at £160-170.. (Euro with Maxibright Compact & 250W Sunmaster Lamp £84.99each) Or (Euro with Maxibright Digilight & 250W Sunmaster Lamp £79.99each)

I read through the thread and saw where you've already decided to leave the other guy out, but just in case you do start to think of picking up a partner/letting someone know (I know, they're just so pretty! Who doesn't want to show the world this miracle?!) Then I figured I'd give you or possibly anyone else in this situation some evidence why this is a bad idea. Note the perfect outline of the tire iron on my shoulder blade:

The 8pot wilma in this picture would require a light mover to adequately light all 8 plants even in the smaller 6.5L pots.

I would highly recommend the wilma4 with the 11L pots

Perfect footprint for a 400w.

I dont get ya Blowin? Jondamon, in 10 weeks i can move out giving me 6months to a year to grow as much as pos :/ I dunno how much i could get from 4 plants? With 2 months veg 10-12 week flower. So i was aiming for a little less on each plant with 2x 250w (Maybe 400ws) covering 4 plants each? (8 pot syatem) Im not gunna b using a tent now :D Just going to cut a room in 2 with a temp wall :) But if you think the 4 pot with a 400w would b best ill just go for that :) I just need as much product as i can grow in 6-12months. Id b leaving the rented property to put a deposit on my own flat :) Soo i need to b looking at cropping 10k+ by the end of the year.

If you're putting 2 250's over it then it should be ok.

However with the plant spacing etc with the 8pot you'll be lucky to achieve 2oz a plant due to space constraints of the 8pots.

You could achieve similar if not more yield choosing the wilma4 with a single 400w.

100w less electricity than the 2x250w with the same if not more yield.

250w lights need you to keep your plants under 1.5ft tall. Very difficult to do if you're using plants grown from seed.

400w lights need you to keep your plants under 2.5ft. Pretty easy to do when using plants grown from seed.

If I were you I would replicate my setup for simplicity. You could even choose soil over coco and forget about pH and EC pens. Just mix in some dolomite lime to help buffer pH.

With my 400w system I can generally get 3 grows in a year from seed.

Or 4 grows from clone.

Around 400g each harvest.

3x400g = 1200g when growing from seed per year.
4x400g = 1600g when growing from clone per year.

For most newbie growers I tell them to aim for 0.5g per watt of light that they use until they are familiar with their strains, environment and feeding regime.

Don't get me wrong 400g from a 400w is not something everyone can do. It takes practice and patience and a good nutrient profile.

If you want plenty of yield while still utilising hydro then realistically the wilma9 pot is great. BUT each wilma9 would need a 600w.

The biggest mistake you can have is to over estimate what you're going to be capable of pulling.

In that wilma8 I would aim for 1oz per plant.
But I also wouldnt be using seed plants in it either. I would choose clones that are freshly rooted and switched to flower as the lack of space that it has can cause problems with microclimates between touching leaf surfaces which can become breeding grounds for mould spores etc.

Have you also considered the running costs for growing?

My 400w setup in electricity costs me around £30 extra per month on top of my normal amount.

Any1 used the air-pots with the Wilma?
I've used airpots before.

IMO they are great for vegging with but the lack of root circling can cause airy buds if you aren't down with your feeding.

My local grow shop stopped selling them because of this response from most of its customers that used them.

Got slightly confuzed towards the end there J. If i can get the same yield if not more then ill go for the Wilma 4 with 400w :) The first lot would b from seed (Grow 1). 6 weeks into vegging Grow 1, id start a mother. Id take clones from the mother 5-6 weeks before chopping Grow 1. (Mother would b 7-8 weeks old) So i could putt the clones in the same day Grow 1 gets chopped :) The clones (Grow 2) would have had 2 weeks to root, 3-4 weeks veg before they go in the Wilma. Clones under 245w CFL (That i already own) Leaving the Wilma on 12/12. Just dont know how id keep the clones going for 4-6 weeks? Could use a painters tray with clay pebbles and a water pump? (Just like the NFT) Would that work? Saafe for the help guys :) Glas im not on my own with this 1 :)

If you got confused with what I was saying you haven't thought out the plan to grow.

What I explained in my post is basic stuff.

I didn't even get into anything mathematical for ventilation yet.

Basically in the wilma4 pot you can grow 4x2.5ft tall plants with between 2-4oz on each plant under 400w.

It would be very difficult to get 2oz on a plant in that 8pot wilma simply because there isn't enough room to grow the plants to the size they would have to be to achieve 2oz each.

The 8 pot wilma is designed for SOG growing.

Why are you buying a pre-made hydroponic setup anyway. Why not just get some rubbermaids and 3inch netcups, airpumps and airstones and make your own DWC? Is that also too inconvenient ? I thought you had tons of free time but no money, not the other way around.

ThorGanjason, that looks nasty :/ Got revenge i hope? ;)
You know, its a long story. I didn't know any of them, I had seen the "ring leader" before BC he was my cousins roomate, but I didn't know the other four. Needless to say I took a beating, but they didn't get anything out of my house.

I think they thought it would be like the movies--that they could crack me in the head one good time and knock me unconscious, which didn't happen. I think they realized that if they were gonna take anything, the first thing would have to be my life and they weren't willing to go that far. I wound up getting 26 stitches in my head that night from 4 different cuts (I guess you could call them cuts, but they were blunt force trauma).

But, they got tired before they got to my girlfriend. They took off out the door, and I had to chase them about a quarter mile to where their car was parked but I ID'd the car. They got 3 years in prison, but I was put under investigation BC they thought it was a "drug deal gone bad". It caused a lot of problems for me; its been a couple years now and the cops in that town still give me a hard time even though I was the victim of a violent crime, just BC the guys who did it said I was the "major supplier on campus", which was never confirmed or denied 8).

A couple of them have gotten out, BC I just recently started getting my restitution checks. $400 down, $7400 to go, mother f*ckers! I'll be waiting on those checks:)
