yeah absolutely
when a plant matures and is ready to flower they will start to alternate nodes
looks like you topped the first alternating node

It's hard to give a haircut over the phone, if you know what I mean, but go to youtube, and search FIM or topping, and there's a couple good vids there.
If you FIM right, you can get 4 tops all at one whack, but you'll most likely miss that and only get two.
BTW, that plant turned out like thisfeb26pic10_zps75b75d74.jpg

Then you said you "no" how to top and it's worked before.
I don't know what to tell ya.
I don't see anything in any of your pics showing a fresh cut.

OK, in the very first pic, the shoot that is pointing towards the first knuckle on your index finger, is that the new growth from when you cut?

IDK man.
I really wish you had a pic of before you cut and one right after.
At this point, I would suggest one oof two things.
Either squeeze all those (the one towards nail, one towards knuckle, tiny nub facing forward, and other one all together, and clip off and try to make it like my first pic, OR, what I would do, since nothing seems to be working for you, is just clip all of that off right below the node, like right between fingertip and thumb, down low so there will be short spacing between that and your next lower node.

The secret behind how topping works, is that its all hormone driven. That's also why fimming works, the plants hormones tell it where to send the nutrients and where to start new growth.

I've never seen one topped after it started alternating leaves, but I'm sure you're not the first.

This is total guesswork, but I'm thinking that maybe the plant was so mature that even after topping, for whatever reason its hormones basically aren't sending the signals to start the new growth there.

thats what i was thinking that maybe i cliped the wrong one that little nub pointing upward is the part i topped so maybe i should just cut off the top down to the next node and use it as a clone?
