I haven't smoked in 20 years

Let me just start by saying that I am a licensed grower in the state of Oregon and am growing a crop of Blackberry Kush right now.

I haven't smoked weed in 20 years and I am thinking about getting back into it again.

My job did not allow me to smoke so i had to abstain all this time. I have gotten out of that line of work however.

I am curious how powerful the weed that I am growing is compared to what i was smoking back in the late 80's. As far as I know what I was smoking back then didn't have a name.. It either got you high or it didn't.

That isn't to say that I have never been extremely stoned before... I remember being so stoned that I forgot how to understand / speak English for 30 minutes (and that is the only language that I know).

So what I am asking is what should I expect from a couple Bong hits, going into this almost a virgin.

Tell you what..weed back in the 80's was probably way better then what you will get now....everyone is looking for a new "call your own strain" and most are Hybrids made from the originals you used to smoke.....hard to say ...depend on where you get them from...but back in my 80's no weed is better these days than then. Just young kids doing what we used to do for ages....now they just made it more complicated to grow and turned out with shittier weed. False information on growing tips..etc.....times have changed, weed has gone to shit, prices go up, and kids think they know it all...funny!

I wouldn't jump into bong hits, I did the same thing as you but for 17 years. I rolled a j and took small hits and waited to feel it as I tend to get panicky especially with sativa's. That was three years ago and now I'm fine bonging, my two cents.

so you think that crossbreeding for desirable traits reduces potency?

actually, it's scientifically proven that many strains now are 20% thc or better.

and i'm no kid brother, and certainly don't know everything

bottom line, when species are bred for desirable traits, generally this improves the product, not the opposite.

This is evidenced throughout nature.

Good weed back then is pretty much the same as it is today.

Just start slow and adjust your intake as needed.

Remember this if you feel like you've taken too much: IT WILL NOT KILL YOU.

PERIOD.

So don't panic.

If you're smoking / vaping, you should be able to monitor your intake easily. Edibles, on the other hand, can fuck you up if you don't know how much cannabis is in each "serving".

When you find yourself stuck on the ceiling because you've taken too much, just do your best to relax, and wait it out. After about an hour or so, you'll start feeling more "normalized" and less "OMG I'M GONNA DIE CUZ I TOOK TOO MUCH!!!". Been there, done that.

I'm sure there was great strains that came in much higher but with more understanding and breeding I have heard of bud 20% or even as high as 25% but have personally never smoked em. We did have some really decent pot in the old days that would stone us silly (Thai sticks were my fav).....but all in all I do believe today's pot contains more punch

but to the OP....it does not matter what grade you smoke as you will likely get rather buzzed even smoking low grade buds....so whatever you try, take it easy, one hit and wait 10 minutes, then have another if required

The 80s had great weed around, but their was more shit weed because it was easier to bring in shit weed from mexico than the good weed from over seas where most of the good genetics come from. I havent seen seeded weed in years, I know its out their but I dont know anyone who still gets it. Modern weed wasnt created from nothing, old genetics were used, they just stabilized the genes for more consistent yields and potency. And since when do women marry doctors to have smart kids? I thought they did it so they could drive a mercedees and eat bonbons all day
