Look at the base of the stock. You may see some scale inscets on it. They dont move but do suck the sap out. I had this problem with a few plants as well as my citrus tree.

Seems almost like water burn marks. When ur watering make sure not to splash on the leaves and leave water on them. It will cause burn spots simular to what yours looks like.

Looks like a heal mark. Have you ever snaped it? Looks like sumewhere thats been broke and it healed back together. Hard to tell with ur pic tho.

I would go with 2 x 600w for sure. You will get more light coverage then you would a single 1000w. IMO
