    Starting seedlings on Nutrients Q

So, would you think that my 5-1-1 fish emulsion would be a decent additive at this stage? From what I've gathered its the N that the plants need to grow. THat's why I bought the fish emulsion. On one hand I'm thinking that the plants look pretty good, but on the other hand I'm wondering if...

    Starting seedlings on Nutrients Q

I've got a question regarding when to start adding nutrients to my seedlings. They are 3 weeks old and most are growing their 3rd set of true leaves. I have read that plants rely on the cotyledon leaves for nutrients until they fall off, and that at that point you should start feeding the...

    Snapped stem on new clone.

Thanks for the replies. So there's at least a bit of hope. Again, not too worried about it either way. Just wasnt sure if I should just throw it away immediately, but I'll just let it be for a while and try not to disturb it. Any sense in taping it or anything like that?

    Snapped stem on new clone.

I was given 3 clones yesterday to add to my collection of seedlings. The clones have started to root and aren't in a dome any longer. I just went to check on the plants a few minutes ago and the one clone was kinda leaning over and when I tried to lean the plant more upright, I head a "snap"...

    CFL Question

I looked at a local store for a very long time before they jumped out at me. THe # was quite small on the packaging and not prominent. Try looking for "Daylight" on the packaging. They are definitely not that rare.

Slow growing seedlings. Need to add N??

Please read the first post for info. I stated that I am using a 18/6 lighting regime and that the plants are out in the sun for the day and I use 2 26w daylight CFl's to get the rest of the 18 hrs of light. It's all I have. Doesn't do much for growth, but keeps the plants from getting more...

Slow growing seedlings. Need to add N??

Thanks for the confidence boost guys. I thought that there should be way more growth for their age at this point, but if you guys say they look alright then that's great.

Slow growing seedlings. Need to add N??

Thanks for the response frmrboi. Good to know the red stems is just from the sunlight. That had me worried. I guess most ppl don't bother feeding anything to the plants til after the cotyledon leaves fall off. I'm still thinking that I MIGHT add a tad of the fish emulsion next time I water...

Slow growing seedlings. Need to add N??

Hi again. To recap my grow info, I have 17 seedlings about 3 weeks old roughly. They are growing very slowly and look like what some ppl manage to grow in a fraction of that time. The seedlings were started in Jiffy Pellets and then placed into beer cups with soil from an outdoor planter in my...

What to add to my soil

Thanks. Being a first timer with all this, I just always have the nagging feeling that I'm gonna transplant the plants and then wish I had added something to the soil beforehand. I think the soil is pretty good but I really don't know. Sea kelp sounds like a good idea. I'll look into that...

What to add to my soil

Ok, I need some help and/or suggestions for my first outdoor plot. I have 5 small plots that are roughly 4'x1' and roughly a foot deep. I have 17 seedlings. I know its not perfect, but it's the best I could do. Anyway, I dug the holes and added coir (from expanded bricks) and perlite to...

SW Ont Q on when to plant

The initial leaves are cotyledons and yeah, I know to bury up to them. When I first put them in the beer cups they were buried to there but they stretched up again. I need to keep them in the beer cups for ease of transporting them to their grow site. Unfortunately, from all the stretching...

Should I re plant my seedlings yet?

I would guess you are over watering them a bit. Wait to water them until the top layer of soil is fairly dry and/or the pots seem light when you pick them up.

SW Ont Q on when to plant

Well, I carefully transplanted my seedlings an hour or so ago. What I did was flip the cups over and very delicately shake the soil off the plants. I put each plant back into the same cup it had been in but filled the cups with promix BX and then gave them each a drink. They are out in the...

SW Ont Q on when to plant

Thanks for the replies. The plants are about 4-5" tall at the moment and almost all have been supported beneath the cotyledon leaves with a drinking straw. For the first 2 weeks or so I was growing them in my window sill during the day and under lights with a fan at night. The fan was set on...

SW Ont Q on when to plant

I'm attempting my first grow this season. I currently have 17seedlings about 2.5 weeks old that seem kinda small for their size. Got stretched at the beginning due to incorrect lighting. Switched to slightly better lights and am now trying to catch them up. Im in SW Ontario and am wondering...

    2 CFl's overnight for seedings

Thx for the response. Basically, Im using the 2 light sockets in my bedroom closet. There are 8 plants around one 26w cfl and 9 plants around the other. While I was pretty sure the 2 lights wouldn't really increase the growth of the plants by much or at all, the small amount of light that...

    2 CFl's overnight for seedings

Well I know that you ppl like pics, so I've added a few that I just took. Again, you can see that my seedlings are very tall (stretched) for their age and as well just have a couple of leaf sets. I am well aware that you couldn't grow plants with just 2 bulbs like I have.. but these plants are...

    2 CFl's overnight for seedings

Hey everyone. New member here and I'm attempting my first outdoor grow this season. I currently have 17 seedlings that are about 2 and a half weeks old. I started the seedlings in jiffy pellets and transplanted them into beer cups soon after. Initially I was growing the seedlings in a south...
