    Keeping stored Casts fresh?

Are you seeing the larvae in your finished castings? If you stop feeding the bin for a couple/few weeks before harvesting, most of the fungus gnats will likely hatch and move on in search of a new food source.

    Keeping stored Casts fresh?

Do you periodically add small amounts of neem seed meal and crab meal to your bins? It's not a quick cure, but over time your bin will start to foster chitin-degrading microbes which will take care of your gnat problem. Gnats used to be a CONSTANT annoyance in my bins, but now they are 100% gone.

    Keeping stored Casts fresh?

I just put mine in 5-gal buckets with plastic saucers(drip trays) laying over the tops as lids. They aren't air tight, of course. While the castings are very much alive, there shouldn't be much active microbial action going on because their food source (your food scraps) have already been...

    Lighting question

This is true, to an extent. It's mostly an outdoor growers trick, since indoors we can give light whenever we feel like it. Just as you can cover plants up (light deprivation) to make them flower sooner, you can supplement them with light when it's dark outside to keep them in veg. Think of...

Thanks, Mo! Right now they're under two 600W Sunmaster Cool Deluxe metal halides. For flower, it'll be two 600W Digilux HPS. They've really taken off now that they're settled in to the 10-gals.

advice with vega matrixs nutrient line

I'll say it one more time... *PPM is a 100% useless measurement when it comes to organic growing.* Why is your pH increasing? Probably because adding organic materials to your soil has brought about some bacterial growth in your medium. This is a good thing. As bacteria grow, they tend to...

advice with vega matrixs nutrient line

Do this, and your plants will be happier: - Pour the contents of those bottles into the toilet, and place the empty bottles into your recycle bin. - Put the ppm meter away in a safe place where you'll never be tempted to use it again. - Quit measuring or adjusting the pH, especially if you're...

If anyone's interested, the tea was made from 5 gallons of water (minus the chloramine), 2/3 cup alfalfa meal, and 1/4 cup kelp. I also added a couple tablespoons of fish hydrolysate to cut down on the foaming a little. Brew time is about 24 hours. This evening I'll mix in some Ful Power at 1...

Natural trait of bud or MOULD?!

Do you have a little handheld microscope or jeweler's loupe? If so, it's very easy to tell if there's any mold. Mold will look like a web of thin clear/white filaments, while trichomes will look like... Trichomes.

I VERY rarely pick up a sack from the dispensary, and I usually regret wasting my money. I feel really bad for all the people who have to rely on strangers to grow their medicine for them.

I didn't grow the Blackberry, Mo. Picked it up from a dispensary. No idea what they used... I did one or two runs with the Fox Farms line when I first started growing, but quickly learned that wasn't how I wanted to do things...

    Epsoma plant tone.

Is there a reason you're going with the little 3-gal pots? If your goal is to run this as a more or less "water only" grow, you'll want AT LEAST 5-gal pots; ideally 7 or 10-gal. A 3-gal pot will more than likely need supplemental feeding to get through to harvest. This isn't necessarily a bad...

I'm really hoping I can do the Blackberry Kush justice. I've only tried it once. The buds were BEAUTIFUL; frosty, purple hues, nice chunky structure... Then I smoked some and quickly discovered it was a chemical-filled, sparky, chunky black ashed mess. Very disappointing... I didn't even finish...

Vegetating along nicely despite some warmer-than-ideal temps... This is the trickiest time of the year to keep my cabinet's temperature in check.
