can i crush pelletized dolomite to get powdered ?

Dolomite lime is not "hot". I mix it straight into the soil I start seeds in, and sometimes it doesn't even have a full 24 hours of "cook time". Can you post pics of the "pH problems" you're seeing? Now you've got me curious... Really, though, dolomite lime doesn't need to be added back each...

can i crush pelletized dolomite to get powdered ?

Most of the time when people panic and look for "fast acting" pH adjusters in an organic grow, they end up causing more problems than they fix... Usually the problem is not pH in the first place.

can i crush pelletized dolomite to get powdered ?

Not really true, no. If you want to prove it to yourself, drop a few of those pellets into a glass of water and watch them "dissolve". Note... This is just the binder dissolving, not the lime itself. Dolomite lime is just ground up rock. It's slow release even in powdered form. Again... Why...

can i crush pelletized dolomite to get powdered ?

The "pellets" are just powdered dolomite lime stuck together with a "binder" that quickly dissolves in water. They do that so the stuff can be easily spread in the garden without making a dust cloud. Also, so that it will work in backpack style fertilizer or seed spreaders. What makes you think...

    Organic nutrient suggestions?

I agree that the claims on many bottled products are laughable at best, but there are a few good organic bottles to keep on hand -Eco-Hydro Fish Hydrolysate -BioAg Ful Power - Neptunes Harvest (fish and/or kelp) To name a few... I actually keep a bottle of Earth Juice Grow around, too. I...

Looking for new vermicomposting ideas and methods... thoughts?

Speaking of bunnies... If you oppose GMO crops, please stop buying Annie's products (Mac and cheese, cheddar bunnies, salad dressings, etc). They just got bought out by General Mills; a company who dumps craploads of money into preventing GMO labeling.

Brainstorming for next round... I'm thinking about doing next run a little differently, just to keep things interesting... Maybe something like 24 clones in 2 gallon pots for an organic "SOG" style grow with just a week or two of veg time. I'd definitely have to feed a few teas along the way...

They eat the avocado from inside the peel. Whenever I dig around in my bin, the avocado peel halves are literally FULL of worms. The peel itself takes a long time to degrade, but it will.

If you want to give them a real treat, throw in your avocado peels. My worms go nuts for the last little layer of avo in the peels.

    Soil for seedlings?

Party cups are just fine for starting seeds. Just make sure to punch holes in the bottom. I usually go for popping the seeds in wet paper towel, then transferring to a small pot of the mix I described (or something similar that I have on hand). I get nearly 100% success this way.

    Soil for seedlings?

Equal parts peat moss, perlite, and worm castings (or compost) works great for starting seeds. Add some dolomite lime in there at about 1-2 tablespoons per gallon to buffer the low pH of the peat moss and you're good to go. You can also add a little kelp meal in there, too, but it's not...

It really is... We stayed in Kihei, mostly for the simplicity (my girlfriend's family, including the young nephews, were along for the trip). Kihei was a little touristy for my tastes, but it didn't take much driving to get out into some beautiful countryside. The highlight for me was driving...

I add small amounts of the following to my worm bin from time to time (pinch of this, tablespoon of that, no precise measurements): - Soft Rock Phosphate (proven to increase levels of bioavailable Phos in the castings, among other benefits) - Neem seed meal (prevent fungus gnats + feed worms)...
