    Help choosing most efficient cobs

individual drivers are a poor choice due to cost and low efficiency at a minimum hlg 185 or 240 series. 320 or 600 are better (more efficient) 18 cobs for a 4x8 is great - you could use 2 hlg-600 drivers no reason to mix colors 3500k 90 if primarily flower 3500k 80 if youre going to be doing...

maybe a little less. that driver is prob 91% efficient

luminus cxm22. Ive stopped stocking the 1818s as the luminus are just as good and cheaper

    cob vs quantum

a lot of that depends on how hard you run the board. somebody could be running 150w and you are running 50W...with different height requirements umols on the wall wont make your tent grow ;)

    Help choosing most efficient cobs

vero Cs are great cobs but at 50W they are no better than $19 luminus also make sure to consider cost of heatsinks in your purchase. heatsinks and holders are half the cost of a cob setup

    What cobs are good cobs?

    its an arbitrary scale specific to that test but roughly vero C at 90W = 9.3 PPFD/W vero C at 95W = 9.25 PPFD/W vero C at 100W= 9.2 PPFD/W cxm22 at 80W = 9.25 PPFD/W cxm22 at 85W = 9.15 PPFD/W cxm22 at 90W = 9.0 PPFD/W cxm22 at 95W = 8.9 PPFD/W cxm22 at 100W= 8.8 PPFD/W so at a given wattage...

i wouldnt say that... but i did just rec a product i dont even sell so theres that.... i like to think im unbiased

    What cobs are good cobs?

go with the veros. (or clu058s but they dont fit your heatsink... so not a great option) heres a test i did awhile back with older gen 5 citis, vero C, veroD, and luminus cxm22. gen 6 citi 18181s track closer to the cxm22. as you can see the larger LES chips like vero C and CLU058 pull ahead...

    Outrageous claims?

i dont doubt that 1 and 7 might be true (but not necessarily relevant). the rest is total marketing bullshit for having a board full of leading CEOs youd think they could hire a decent technical writer who understands parallel construction

    What cobs are good cobs?

where did you get that number from?
  14. CobKits

    What cobs are good cobs?

the lack of parity between different manufacturer's datasheets and actual chips in service has been demonstrated time and time again. i would only ever use datasheets of a given single mfr to compare their different offerings. mfr to mfr always seems to be biased one way or another
  15. CobKits

    What cobs are good cobs?

depends on the voltage. all the chips 'model numbers' you list actually represent multiple products with different specs. dont get hung up on current, rather overall wattage (voltage x current) cxm22 are substantially more efficient than 1212s. they are just above 1818s/vero C/vero B below...

    What cobs are good cobs?

clu048 drilling works for luminus. id go with the cxm22
  17. CobKits

    What cobs are good cobs?

citizen are slightly more efficient than vero at that wattage. vero B and C are good chips though really it depends what your heatsinks are drilled for unless you want to redrill and tap them

Man i hate these Harbor Freight/ Hydrofarm digital timers

not sure about that info, this is an active product and has been a harbor freight product for well over a decade probably before hydrofarm started selling them. it is the exact same product, i can see why HF stopped carrying them https://www.harborfreight.com/digital-timer-95205.html
