    Would this nitrogen burn?

My 3 gallon pots weigh 13 pounds when they are "moist". When they are fully watered, they weight 21 pounds. A gallon of water weighs ~8 pounds. So that tells me that the soil mix and fabric pots are holding about a gallon of water (after they stop dripping). When the plants were small and in...

    Would this nitrogen burn?

Actually, I tried using a digital type scale. The problem is that they shut off and reset. So, if I set a pot on one of them, it will show the weight, initially....then it will shut off. If I turn it back on, it zeros out with the pot on it. That's why I wanted to try it with some type of analog...

    Would this nitrogen burn?

Initially, I wanted to get 4 cheap, analog bathroom scales and place each plant on one and monitor the weight that way. But, the cheap scales were reported to be very inaccurate and I didn't want to spend the $$ on that experiment....but I still keep the idea in the back of my mind! ;)

    Would this nitrogen burn?

Yes, but it makes me feel as if I am following a system of watering that I came up with that works for me and my style of growing. I only grow 4 plants (max) per run and this run one of my four turned out to be a male...so I'm only dealing with 3 plants and they are in 3 gallon fabric pots. It...

    Would this nitrogen burn?

I know it's labor intensive and wouldn't be practical for anything other than a very small grow (a few plants)...but, whenever I start out a grow, I try to pre-moisten my soil mix to the "ideal" dampness level. Then I weigh the container (bathroom scale works fine) and pre-moistened soil. Then I...

    It's a Boy

Wellllll....yeah, it's a male. :( It gets easier to accept, as time goes by, but no matter how long you wait, it's not going to change its sex. I only grow 4 plants at a time and it's kinda heartbreaking to get males and have to see all the effort and tender loving care go into the...

    Chocolate Thai F4/NL#2/Meig's OG/Race Fuel/Tuna Kush

Update: I see the first pre-flowers appearing on the NL #2 and they are female. I think this may be my favorite looking plant at the moment. I was disappointed to have to cull the Tuna Kush X Hindu Kush cross, yesterday, when it was definitely confirmed to be a male. I will try it again on...

Can you "stress" a male plant into throwing pistils?

That comment got me thinking again...(uh-oh!).... I've never seen a plant that starts out male and then throws pistils under stress....But, then again, I've never grown out a male plant....I always chop them. When I started out throwing weed back in the 70's, I had no idea what the plants were...

    Chocolate Thai F4/NL#2/Meig's OG/Race Fuel/Tuna Kush

Update: The Tuna Kush X Hindu Kush turned out to be a male, so I pulled it. Now, I am down to three plants. The good news is that the Meig's OG and the Chocolate Thai F4 are females for sure. I have strong feeling the Northern Lights #2 is a female, too, but the next few days will confirm that...

Can you "stress" a male plant into throwing pistils?

Ohhhh that's right. Thank you! I remember this being posted awhile back. But...I guess I'm wondering if it's possible to stress a male plant into throwing pistils in the same way that females will become stressed and throw 'nanners...Let's say, to be more specific, due to a light leak. Is a...

Can you "stress" a male plant into throwing pistils?

We know that female plants can produce 'nanners when stressed by, say, a light leak during the dark period of a 12/12 flower cycle. But, what about a male plant? If it is exposed to a light leak during the dark period, then will it do the opposite of the female plant and throw pistils?

What is "THE" best new rig for dabbing rosin?

Anyone remember Drew Carver? He was the guy who invented the titanium ladle and he was also a glassblower who made little bubblers especially for the ladle. I got one years ago and it has been my main rig for a lot of years. But, like many, it involves a torch to heat up the ladle and that whole...

Does anyone use a green bulb in a flower area with lights off?

Didn't Bruce Bugby say that the idea that plants can't "see" green light was false?
