    Emergency Lighting ideas

Every year about this time, we get windy days. Branches get blown down nd the power goes out in the neighborhood for up to several hours. It could always be worse, of course, but, since it's kinda windy today, I got to thinking about what I would do if I was in the middle of a "lights ON" period...

    How much delay after HST?

How long does it usually take a plant to get going full-steam again, after topping/fim-ing/etc., in comparison to just allowing the plant to do its own thing and grow according to its genetics? I realize it will vary from plant-to-plant, but I'm just looking for a ballpark generalization. I'm...

Is it almost ready to harvest??

Wait until those hairs shrivel and the calyx swell up. In 2-3 weeks, check back!

    Plants drooping from cold...

No. You should add a space heater to the room.

    Why make hash rosin?

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!! :) Hashish comes from the word "Hashishin"...which translates to "assassin" . That's what hash is all about -killing. But seriously....Why make rosin from bubble hash? Well, I've pressed flower rosin many times and it almost always comes out really sticky and sappy -like...

    a mite to remember

Eating some bugs and poop has been compensated for by the human digestive tract. Smoking bug poop and eggs is another thing. I find that a much better policy is to practice clean habits in order to prevent (or lower) the chances of pests from the start. Many times, when people post pictures of...

    a mite to remember

All bugs (good and bad)....poop and lay eggs...and die. So while those beneficial insects are eating all the pests, they are also pooping and egging and living out their entire lives all over your plants. Is there a benefit to smoking beneficial bug poop? I'm not sure if I'm aware of any studies...

    What's wrong with my seedling?

It's not unusual for a new grower to overdo everything. I've been there, myself. Time and experience are the best teachers. Fortunately marijuana is a very resilient plant when it's allowed to do it's thing. Almost always, new growers will overwater the seedings -thinking that the more water...

Stunted growth - a repeating problem I can not solve.

My simple solution is to weigh the container with dry (or almost dry) soil and then weigh it again after it's saturated. I use a digital postal scale that I got on Amazon for ~$30 or so. After watering, weigh the container intermittently until the weight starts to come into the dry range again...

School me on your lighting experience

If you put three lights (an LED, a T5 fluorescent and an HID) in a completely empty room and then put a cat in that room and come back 15 minutes later....whichever light the cat is sitting under is the one to use to grow weed. Nature knows all. That's as scientific as I'm going to get. :)

School me on your lighting experience

Thanks. Well, I'm trying to do a journal this time. I'm running a Chocolate Thai F4, a Northern Lights #2, a Tuna Kush hybrid (salute to the Canadians!) and a Meig's County Gold hybrid....but I'm pretty terrible at keeping a journal. It's going to be interesting because the MH light is already...

School me on your lighting experience

I've tried them all...Timber, HLG, Area51 (lol), Nextlight...Most impressed with the light output of the HLG Quantum Board as far as LED goes. They are all good brands, though. Nextlight went belly up, though...too bad...nice lights. Because I take such good care of my stuff, I still have my...

    Archive Seed Bank

It's not the prices that bug me. It's the fact that both strains I grew (Hashbar and Chemdozer) were just ho-hum. They grew well and looked great, but the end product was mediocre -kinda run-of-the-mill, flavorless stuff that you see in the recreational stores. I think Archive gears their stuff...

What's "THE ONE" strain for you so far???

    You got THAT right!

    Chocolate Thai F4/NL#2/Meig's OG/Race Fuel/Tuna Kush

Update: Plants are a bit chlorotic....possibly too much light when they were in the seedling cabinet....and when I first put them into the tent and was still dialing in the temps, the light was too close to the plants. I thought it might also be a pH issue, but runoff water was 6.0 so that...

    The Old school Oaxacan

It was one of those strains that only showed up in the midwest, every so often. It was a step up from the regular Mexican brick weed and maybe about $5 more per "lid" (lol!) :), so we bought it when it was around. The two thing that made this strain stand out, were the DARK brown and OILY...

    Chocolate Thai F4/NL#2/Meig's OG/Race Fuel/Tuna Kush

Update: Just transferred the four repotted plants into the tent. LOL! It took me a minute to adjust the MH light. It was 86 degrees inside the tent in a matter of a few minutes. So, I opened up another intake duct and turned the fan up to 95%. I'll have to keep a close eye on the temps...

Your Criteria: Highest THC or Most Trichs?

Flavor, smell = #1 Most "reports" of super-high THC strains aren't true. Just go into a recreational store and grab ANY "super" strain they have and take those buds in to be tested, independently. I'd bet none of them would turn out what they are reported to be. I thought the whole "highest...

    Chocolate Thai F4/NL#2/Meig's OG/Race Fuel/Tuna Kush

Update: Race Fuel is gone....just wasn't growing well...sluggish. It was an extra bonus that came with one of my other seed orders, anyway, so no great loss. Everything else was growing too slowly, as well, so I popped the plants out of the Solo cups check the roots. All the roots looked...
