Sterile vs bennies in warmer temps

Like most hydro growers I started with beneficials and all of the expensive add-ins. I spent years adding and adjusting the system trying to 100% prevent root rot or blooms in the reservoir. No matter how hard I tried or how much work I put in, shit still happened. Since I switched to HTH...

First time making Bubble Hash - 74G total yield!

There are a number of terpenes that will evaporate during the drying process, so fresh frozen captures these before they can off-gas. You know how your garden smells on the day of harvest? That's the smell of my fresh frozen bags from the freezer. Secondary to this but also beneficial is that...

First time making Bubble Hash - 74G total yield!

I assume that's with a work bag? 73/160 would work, or 45/160 (with a work bag) would basically duplicate my ordering, minus the 25. (Which really only caught medium quality anyways.) It's pretty dependent on strain too, if you've got a lot of smaller trichs the 73 would miss them entirely...

First time making Bubble Hash - 74G total yield!

The majority is turned into hash, yes. If you include equipment costs then definitely not, but realistically you should get a lot more profit. :) Doing some basic math (lots of assumptions here). If you have 16oz of fresh buds and you get 20% return on hash, then 80% return on rosin you're...

First time making Bubble Hash - 74G total yield!

Thanks man, lots went into planning every step of the process out. All pieces of equipment were purchased especially for hash processing. I am currently still using ice, however my water comes out at <40F and depending on if I'm doing fresh frozen or dried/cured depends on how much ice I use...

First time making Bubble Hash - 74G total yield!

I disagree. While you don't need one to make hash, a freeze dryer removes 100% of the variables when drying. Pedro and Frenchie both say it's the biggest factor for creating quality hash, and after seeing the difference I totally agree. I run a nice little ice maker, as well. Using RO water...

First time making Bubble Hash - 74G total yield!

Yes. I have the Harvest Right Medium Home freeze dryer. https://harvestright.com/product/home-freeze-dryer/ I follow the advice of people like Frenchie and Pedro. When I'm washing it's not about the ice at all, no grinding (or else you get plant material). It's all about working in a...

First time making Bubble Hash - 74G total yield!

Keep in mind it's not just the micron of the bag that matters, but also the bag above it. In your case the 25 would contain everything between 25 and 72 microns. (Assuming 120 - 73 - 25 bag order that was posted earlier.) I feel like you could split yours out a bit further and separate some...

First time making Bubble Hash - 74G total yield!

I am running 220, 160, 45, and 25. 160 and 25 make hash for edibles and the 45 gives me the golden goodness. Here's some of the 45 from the last run after it came out of the freeze dryer.

It's not too bad once you really break it down. The 500mL will recharge my 70g model 3 times and costs $60, so $20 each. It's not cheap, but since the unit lasts me an entire run from start to finish I only recharge once every 3 months or so. Totally agree. I bet a bit more research into...

I used the drop-in model. The in-line is just a container that holds the drop-in model in place for the flow, so they're technically the same. When I originally tested this I wasn't sure it was going to work, so I didn't want to modify my feed manifold for an in-line unit that I might want to...

    High Voltage Aeroponics

To get back on track how about some questions... - What PSI is the system running? - What sizes droplets are you aiming for? - What is the hang-time of the mist? - How much water does each nozzle use per spray, per second? - Have you been able to produce fine root hairs? Do you have photos? -...

I ignored him, sounds like he believes I'm shilling for a product, even though you can see the data yourself in real time on my Twitch stream. I paid for the product just like everyone else, I pay for the recharge solution, I don't have a discount code or coupon for them -- I simply use the...

    High Voltage Aeroponics

Adding technology to a grow can be beneficial, but only up to a certain point. After that you're not really adding benefits, just complexity. I feel like this falls into that category. I'm in the process of building our commercial facility and I can tell you that even if you can prove ROI you...

    Reservoir mold

That's awful cold for the roots. 68F is the optimal temp in hydro, 66F will slow the growth, and below that you can halt the growth entirely. You can go colder like you have if there's media that is maintaining some heat you are trying to offset, but you want the root zone at 68F.

    Cleaning Question!

Same as @fragileassassin -- I run peroxide through the system for a full cleaning. All nozzles and small pieces are soaked in a peroxide solution for up to 24 hours. Since it breaks down cleanly there's no need to worry about cleaning residue being left behind after a wash, too.

    First aero start-up

I am an engineer, I like to tinker with things too. I had been growing for about 20 years w/ an ebb and flow system that "just worked" but when I moved into the new house I decided to go all-in on high pressure aero. I loved the science behind it and I really thought it would be fun, as long...

    Ebb and Flow coco beds

You can just run a condensate pump if you need low flow. For $50 you are up and running. If you need higher flow you can run The Bucket Company return pump. This is what I run in my big flower room to recirculate the runoff...

    Ebb and Flow coco beds

I run both of my tents (clone and veg) with F&D trays, 1/3/5 gallon Radicle Bags w/ 70/30 coco/perlite. I flood for 5 minutes a day which gives me a few inches of coverage on the bottom of the pots. Never had a root rot problem and overall it's one of the easier systems to maintain. The...

    Uv sterilization

In my recirculating system I run 2 filters on the supply side, and 1 on the drain side. Probably overkill at this point, but it was leftovers from my HPA setup that required all particles to be removed or I'd clog the nozzles. (Plus the spin-down filter is ran to waste, so that allows me to...
