    WIN FASTBUDS PURPLE LEMONADE!

This is one of those strains the wife would love in her tent. She's just starting on auto's too...

    O2 grow

The fins have nothing to do with the noise, they're there to dissipate heat. Ensure that you have plenty of output for the pump size and reduce vibration transference -- it's as simple as that. This is a 1110 GPH pump sitting on 2" foam to mitigate the vibration. I am only using 2 air lines...

    O2 grow

Don't skimp on the price of the pump and that's not as much of an issue. You can be standing a foot away from my pump and you would never even know it was there because of the way I've isolated the vibrations.

Rate My DIY Set-Up! 6 place 33 gallon RDWC

Or that's what you'll tell yourself. And if you're anything like me, 20 years later you'll still be tweaking things. :) Looks really great for a first iteration though. Good job!

    First Ebb & Flow

I hear this quite often from other E&F growers -- yet they are consistently amazed at the trees I grow. Please remember that there are many ways to grow and just because it's different, doesn't mean it's wrong.

I've been testing the Torus Hydro unit in my reservoir for just over a week now. I used to get a 0.1 drift upwards every few days but since I dropped the Torus into the res I have been stable at 5.8 - 6.0. It does drift up and down slightly, but stays within the acceptable range. A lot...

    First Ebb & Flow

I also flood 24 hours a day, every 30 minutes. I flood for 10 minutes, it takes 8 minutes to fill my grow beds and takes about 2 minutes before my siphon kicks in to start draining the beds. It then takes about 5 minutes for the beds to totally drain and then I have a 15 minute dry period...

That is exactly why I flood and drain 24/7 and not a few times a day like most people. My siphon controls the drain cycle and quickly pulls fresh O2 into the root zone before the next cycle begins. The main ideas of my E&F come from the aquaponics folks where they have to maintain the nitrogen...

Eh, you could -- but you're losing most of the benefits. The medium provides access to water between cycles, as well as provides stability for the large plants that can be produced using this method. Not to mention you have to move a lot more water since there's no medium offsetting the...

I'm not sure we're on the same page here when you say no medium. Ebb and flow still relies on grow media -- whether that be coco, soil, or in my case hydroton. This ensures that the plant still has access to water during the drain cycle, while the incoming flow will bring in fresh, highly...

Keep in mind there are many different types of siphons. Most of the aquaponics guys use the bell siphon, but I found that too difficult to get balanced. I used a modified U siphon built from random PVC parts last time and it worked really well. This time around I've gone even simpler with a...

I run ebb and flow in hydroton using the 10 gallon medical planters from The Bucket Company. The pump runs 24/7 and the E&F is controlled via an automatic siphon (no moving parts or electricity, simply physics). Take a look at the folks running aquaponics -- my system is based around what...

Automatic PH Control for under $150

Neat idea, but...you have pH down running directly through brass fittings? I'd be worried about the acid reacting with the brass causing corrosion, weakening the fitting itself and leeching zinc and copper into the system.

    Thoughts on Hybrid NFT system.

I'm not sure I'd run 12 separate pumps. Why not just run a larger pump and manifold the water? Are you running separate res's? Like most people I started with the Ecoplus pumps but after 2 failures (always keep a backup pump) I switched to an external Jebao and haven't looked back. Much...

    Leakless RDWC

I hated dealing with bulkhead fittings as well. I just never had good luck with them and being in the middle of nowhere means I have to drive 2 hours to get parts (or wait 2 days for Amazon). The latest iteration of my system uses plastic laundry tubs (utility sinks). This gives me a huge...

Ionic grow and bloom exp with flood and drain?

The last few runs I had been using a 50gal res but I hated doing my weekly flush knowing I was sending unused, expensive nutrients down the drain. I'm actually going to try something entirely new in this room next cycle to try and address this issue. How do you handle excess nutes in the water...

Ionic grow and bloom exp with flood and drain?

The pH stability was amazing, I used to do daily adjustments to keep things in line but once I switched it was pretty much dead on the entire week between res changes. The first run w/ Ionic was a baseline run, so I ran with no supplements. Since I was running known strains / conditions the...

Ionic grow and bloom exp with flood and drain?

I've been a F&D grower for over 15 years now and have always just accepted pH adjustments as part of the process. The daily routine became so annoying that I finally invested in remote monitors and auto-dosers, but I always hated the extra crap I was adding to the water. After relocating we...
