    Veg light upgrade question

Ya his video only says they'll have a "proposed" new PAR system when he's done this round of research.

Easy aluminum frame brazing - stronger, more efficient designs

It's super stable at normal household temperatures. If you heat it to welding temperatures (600+ celcius) it will make a yellow gas that is going to be caustic to your lungs/nasal passage and and lead to headaches, sinus infections, pneumonia etc. That's why most venting is crimped and folded...

Easy aluminum frame brazing - stronger, more efficient designs

Yes, never breath metal fumes. They cause pneumonia and sinusitis as well as long term damage.

Easy aluminum frame brazing - stronger, more efficient designs

Nope. I'd say 1/8" aluminum or thicker unless you have a backer plate to spread the heat. Aluminum brazing paste may help you go thinner also.

Easy aluminum frame brazing - stronger, more efficient designs

Stay tuned for updates on my 5 x 15w COB bar. I've welded aluminum angle iron before so this should be a cinch.

Easy aluminum frame brazing - stronger, more efficient designs

Hi all, I noticed that a lot of the builds out there are being screwed, riveted and bolted together. Brazing aluminum is very easy as far as welding things goes and there are a ton of very well explained videos about how to do it. I've linked one below. You just need some brazing rods from a...

Luminus CXM-9 Build - Will it reach?

the cxm-9 is 13.5MM (~0.5 in.) square and 1/2" to 3/4" U channel is available at good ol' Canadian Tire. I've got a metal supplier down the road too if I ever make a big enough order. Worst case Ontario, if it's too close to 80 celcius for my liking I'll make sure it's directly in the path of a...

The Greatest Show On Earth Presents The 16oz Party Cup Grow Off

So is it cheating if I put one aeroponic mister in the bottom of a Red Solo? lol

    Veg light upgrade question

Just did some googling and Bruce Bugbee is currently proving you right. Except that it does break down all wavelengths, it just doesn't include combination effects and intensities. We'll have an updated "par" spectrum soon.

Luminus CXM-9 Build - Will it reach?

TLDR: I need some cheap veg lights for Ma's greenhouse. They need to reach 4-6 feet and provide supplemental sprout/veg light until the summer sun is in full swing. Does anyone know from practical experience if these CXM-9 cobs will effectively throw light that far? Also, 4k is my best guess for...

    Identifying male and female plants

I red an article on "pre-flowers" and determining sex of males at 3 weeks.. but so far I've seen nothing identifying. My plants are slightly lagged behind though from late re-potting and poor lighting. https://www.growweedeasy.com/preflowers

Using natural soil, 6.5 pH, high N, low P, high k

So I have a decades-old beaver dam full of rich organic compost and I've been robbing it for soil and growing my lovelies in it. Mixed in some peat to give it a less clay-sand heavy composition. So far a few have had their lower leaves start to fade yellow from the ends and a couple had just the...

No sew DIY fabric planters, soft pots, air pruning bags etc

Don't buy the eshanmu sealer, it doesn't work as well as the vacuum packer. The wire is too hot and compromises the bag.

No sew DIY fabric planters, soft pots, air pruning bags etc

So I found a genius idea on YouTube and had to spread it. It's how to make felt garden pots with a bag sealer and landscape cloth. A whole 3'x50' roll of “20 year" landscape cloth is 20$. Amazon sells pots for 3$ for 10 from China or like 8-17$ a piece from anyone local and with decent quality...

What size of COB is ideal for cost per watt?

True, I should run the hot return lines under the planter pots first and keep the soil warm.

What size of COB is ideal for cost per watt?

I have a vacuum pack sealer with an auxiliary line. Will this suffice? The other option is to boil the water and solder it together while still steaming. I'm not sure if more vacuum is better or if even a little is enough to make water boil above room temp. I'm sure there's a formula for...

Is it possible to over cool COBs? Liquid cooling

Haha ya, someone said early on that a high flow, cold water cooling system can cause condensation on the cob surface. So thats too much imo.

Best of both worlds, full spectrum setup

Derp, I wrote all this without considering that veg needs half the light intensity of flower. So you'd probably be better off doing a It started as something then got really confused. In the end I'd just like to say you can get the best of both worlds while remaining economical and buying in...

Is it possible to over cool COBs? Liquid cooling

Even though those are fairly cheap, they are a long shot from the monster heat sink you linked initially, which looked to me like it'd handle a 100W+ COB.

Is it possible to over cool COBs? Liquid cooling

After some consideration on increased efficiency vs. the rate of LED advancement, I figured cheap and easy is best. Depending on the time of year, taking heat outside would be nice though and in the winter the coolant would be frigid and just give me some free LED efficiency. The area I grow in...
