Thanks... but what worries me is the fact that the nutes aren't doing anything except splashing against some hydroton. It's a tiny seedling vs 24l of water. What possible reason could there be for an upswing above half a point a day? It's certainly not evaporation or changes due to nute uptake

Germinated in the rock wool. 2nd leaf pair was pushing out its first blades 7 days after starting germinating. Today is day 10 from seed - 2nd leaf set now has all 3 blades and set 3 is just starting to form. 3 out of 5 blades exist in tiny form right now.
