Just give them light right up until their new dark period - better than giving them extra darkness and possibly triggering hormones (flowering) you don't want.

Speaking of, that might be an option for you - they sell grow bags as well, might have to order online - inexpensive though, and you can make them fit in an odd space.

For topping, look in the Advanced section - there's a topping thread stickied, by Uncle Ben, best topping thread around. For your plants - if you actually have holes in them, something is eating them - check 'em with a fine tooth comb and find out what it is, before more serious damage occurs.

If it's three weeks into veg, then yep, I do believe the roots may be running out of room. It's never too late to transplant. I would do it, because if they are looking for more space, just covering the roots isn't gonna cut it - they'll keep doing it.

Sarcasm wasn't necessary. That isn't a clone, for your information, that's a barely seven week old plant from seed. And I was giving a heads up to the original OP out of courtesy becuase I told them I would try this experiment.

I usually transplant mine from their nursery, so to speak, right into the three gallon buckets they'll finish in. You might consider trying that in the future.

Why are you trying to harvest it so early? Most Indica strains take from 8-10 weeks to finish - Sativas even longer. Five weeks is waaaaay too early.

You can add a tsp of dishsoap to your water, to help the soil retain moisture better. However - you're going to have to find something else to grow in. One, you have to have drainage, and two, you do not want mold anywhere near your plants. If you continue in the plywood, you'll lose your plants...

What size pot are you in? Might be too small for the plant.

88F is too high, but probably won't kill your plants. 70F is good - just a tad low. My own grow areas stay around 75F, but get down to around 62F lights out.

Well, couple days into week seven of veg, and my Lemon Skunk have shown preflowers - so although I'm gonna try this anyway, I don't think my input will help much, for proving or disproving your theory this round.

It's a balancing act, from germination to harvest. Keep everything in balance, and you're fine - but if one thing starts sliding out of whack, it throws off other shit, too.
