First Grow: 400 watt HPS, Permafrost, White Widow, White Rhino, Blackjack

I just got back in town a few hours ago and have yet to see the plants but from what I hear the spider mites are back with a vengence:wall:. The bad news combinded with my week long Vegas hangover makes me want to :spew: . The preditor mites thrive in 40%+humidity but I couldn't keep the cabinet...

TIP OF THE DAY: LIME WORKS TO RAISE SOIL PH The flowering plants haven’t changed much since last week but the plants I topped are going ape-shit. I’m really REALLY tempted to stick them in the flower room because they are growing so fast. The weird thing is that the sprouts put off more smell...

    First Grow!! -Beginner- Feedback Apprec.

Welcome Hex. What is the wattage and spectrum of the bulb you're using? During the veg stage you want to run 6500K bulbs with atleast 50 actual watts per sq ft, the more wattage you can put in there without having heat issues the better.

10,000 ppm? That's seems like enough to kill everything in the room, including the plants! LOL. Did your friend's plants have any reaction to the high dosage of CO2? I haven't really looked into getting CO2, where did your friend get his and do you have an idea of the cost?

    Topping

The reason to wait until the plant is 6 nodes tall is because the plant has developed a much stronger root system by that point. By "cutting it in half" you now have half the plant with twice the root structure of a normal plant that size. I recently used the method you described above. Cut...

First Grow: 400 watt HPS, Permafrost, White Widow, White Rhino, Blackjack

I didn't mist or use a dome. I think that is only necessary when cloning the traditional way. After I take the cutting I put it underwater and make another diagonal cut. I immediately dip in in rooting gel. I use rooting solution mixed with the water. I didn't check or mess with the pH. I just...

First Grow: 400 watt HPS, Permafrost, White Widow, White Rhino, Blackjack

I originally had the exhaust fan up there but moved it into the flower room to improve the air exchange. Theres just a hole in the top for passive exhaust but the 465 CFM fan pushes air out of that hole at a pretty good rate. This is my opinion on the clone bucket: 24/7 works, I'm proof of...

    what is the problem?

I have to agree with Yoda, it does look like spider mites and the start of a PH problem. The little white specs on the leaves are a dead give away for spider mites. Is the PH you listed above the run-off or PH of the water going in? You want your run-off PH to be as close to 6.5 as you can...

First Grow: 400 watt HPS, Permafrost, White Widow, White Rhino, Blackjack

I set up a little drying rack for the trimmings. The person I'm growing it for is anxious to try cannabutter and so am I. It'll be tough but we'll try to hold out until after harvest. When you made yours how long did you boil it for? I've seen threads that say boil for 1 hour and others that...

First Grow: 400 watt HPS, Permafrost, White Widow, White Rhino, Blackjack

Hey wiseguy, thanks for stopping by! My ballast is in the top section above the flower room. The ballast does get HOT which is I made a shelf for it. All of the heat is exhausted out of a hole in to top of the cab, not far from where the ballast sits. I do have the clone bucket running 24/7...

    Cannabutter with undergrowth trimmings?

I've never made it before but I've come across A LOT of different opinions on water/butter/bud ratios and cooking times. I don't know if I have the patience to wait 3 days, I was thinking about boiling it for a few hours but it makes sense to cook everything bit out of the weed. So I guess the...

    Cannabutter with undergrowth trimmings?

I have a few weeks left before harvest but decided to do some undergrowth trimming today and ended up with about an ounce of leaf matter and tiny bud sites. Will these trimmings make decent butter even though the plants that they were cut from are not at full maturity? All comments are...

First Grow: 400 watt HPS, Permafrost, White Widow, White Rhino, Blackjack

Today I trimmed some undergrowth for the last time until harvest. I ended up with a good size bag of leaves and small budsites. Would the trimmings have any effect if I made butter with them? I've found lots of info on how to make butter but nothing on how mature the plant needs to be.

First Grow: 400 watt HPS, Permafrost, White Widow, White Rhino, Blackjack

I'll give it a try if the preditor mites don't work, I'm willing to try anything other than chemicals at this point. Thanks for the advice! Do you know how much CO2 he used? My flower room is 3ft wide x 2.5ft deep x 6ft tall, do you know how much I would need to use?

Should I be worried? (first time grow)

Hard to say why they had such a slow start to flowering. Just keep doing what your doing, they'll come around. One thing to keep in mind is that the plants will double or triple in size before harvest depending on the strain. If I were you I would come up with a game plan on controlling their...

Should I be worried? (first time grow)

Are you making sure the plants are getting 12 hours of continuous uninterupted darkness? That is the key. If the plant's dark cycle is interupted even momentarily it affects the plant's ability to flower. LST the tall Mo Fo to bring it down to size with your other plant.

Miracle Grow vs Organic potting soil..Fact

MG worked fine for me UNTIL the last few weeks of flowering when my plants got locked up and all of the leaves began to die because the plant wasn't able to absorb the proper nutes from the soil. Granted, this was my first grow and I wasn't checking the PH of the run-off but IMO MG soil tends to...

Lightproofing a grow box fan port?

Looks like I'm too late. The only problem with light traps are that they take up space inside the grow room which was the only reason I didn't use them. The black sock idea is a good "low profile" option. I did something similar but used different material. If you're familiar with the pull...
