If ur CFLs are more than 3 inches from ur plants they wont really get any of the light they need.. I cant tell U about the HID cuz I have yet to use one but I have had good luck with the CFLS in my grows... Kimi

U can START 3 plants in doors for under $10 worth of CFLs. Just make sure they are 26w 6500k lights. Make sure they are 1-2 inches from the plant tops. My first grow was very spindly as I kept my light about 12 inches away and CFLs lose it after a cpl inches... Kimi
