I hear that cfl's usually give airy buds. Also there are many products that boast they are bud hardeners. GH uses dry Koolbloom and I believe AN uses Overdrive as there bud hardeners.

Miracle Grow fertilizers works fine and have seen some very good grows using there products. There fertilizers are very HOT though and can burn plants fairly easily. Build a box with lights built in, that you can throw over your plants. Shouldn't be too much light leakage and if its dark out, shouldn't be too noticable if the only bit of light is coming off the bottom of the box where it touches the ground.
